Jason & the Scorchers - "Shop it Around"

One of the first artists to be called alternative-country or country-punk. I'll bet they were great to see live.

I LOVE Jason & the Scorchers. I saw them play live several times and it was a great show every time.

I did get the chance to see them live (The Mason Jar in Phoenix, Arizona many moons ago!) and man did they rock!! One of my all time favorite artists altough I hate country music. He has gone on to release many cd's and I have had the pleasure to converse with Jason a couple of times via e-mail through the years. His solo album "Pocketful of Soul" was a phenomenal disc and is highly recommended. Much more folk and much more personal and includes a Guadalcanal Diary cover (Trail Of Tears). Great Stuff! I am dying for him to make a Phoenix Tour Stop again but no such luck!

I was first introduced to JASON AND THE SCORCHERS wayback 1987 when I bought a locally pressed compilation VINYL RECORD album here in MANILA entitled ENCORE. Yup that was 1987 and I already like their type of music. It could be NEW WAVE COUNTRY. I have their "STILL STANDING" album on cd with bonus tracks and I find their works very experimental with a touch of punk, country, and NEW WAVE.[;)]

As far as I know, there was no locally pressed JASON AND THE SCORCHERS Vinyl record released here in Manila. I have never seen one. Only a compilation record entitled "ENCORE" which I bought wayback 1987 was released with NEW WAVE acts like THE CHURCH, CROWDED HOUSE, GRAPES OF WRATH included on the Vinyl compilation.[;)]
