I love fish. This summer, I've been grilling seafood on cedar planks, soaked in wine or fruit juice. Here's a good one:

Cedar plank soaked in white wine and rock salt for an hour.
Salmon filet, smeared with pesto made from my own home grown basil.
Generously sprinkled with coarsely ground fresh black pepper and topped with lemon slices.

Salmon placed on plank and baked in closed grill until perfection. Served with grilled asparagus and sweet yellow peppers brushed with olive oil. Corn on the cob fire roasted in it's own husk on same grill. Accompanied with super chilled pinot grigio. YUM [8D]

No - but I swore a lot. Wallpaper paste has the consistency of saliva...lots & lots & lots of saliva. Everytime I smoothed the paper out it was like the wall drooled on me. (Or maybe it had the consistency of something else...there was a lot of wall stroking happening today...)

I've been working my arse off for the past month and yesterday, I got the paycheck for my efforts. I spent today with my daughters and we spent the biggest part of it on clothes and shoes. We had a blast, but our feet are killing us. (The boys are at a Hinder/Nickelback concert *gags*)

When I was five, I got super sick and my fever shot through the sky. I had one of those clown faces on my wall that you throw the velcro-ed balls at, and I looked up and it and had a hallucination. It looked like the clown was coming off the wall and after me. I freaked out. Apparently, I nearly died that winter. All I remember is the clown. I've never cared much for clowns since then.

I love to cook, too, and my specialty is desserts. I make amazing champagne and chocolate truffles. I bought a smoothie maker a few weeks ago, and I've been experimenting with every fruit and vodka combination you can think of. [:D]

I don't talk about this much, but tonite, I'll share.

A rented a room in a retired man's house in the summer before my junior year of college. There were two other boarders.

A couple of weeks pass by uneventfully. One night I came home from work, and the house smelled funny. I walked into my room, and there was the old man, bound and bludgeoned to death. I hightailed it outta there, called the police.

That night, and the next day, I learned the following from the police's lines of questioning:

* The smell was ether.
* One of the boarders apparently moved out peacefully that day. I had no idea she was leaving.
* The other boarder was apparently evicted. Her stuff was strewn out in the back yard. The police didn't know her whereabouts.

AFAIK, they never found the killer. Or at least, no one ever contacted me to testify in a trial. When I think about the situation, would I be dead if I were home that night? Would he be alive? Why was he in my room? Would I have seen the eviction and got the hell out of there myself? Was the ether used as an anesthetic or a drug?

I did a study at a sleep disorder clinic last December and discovered that sleep apnea was causing my body to try wake up 70 times a minute. Now I use a machine called a CPAP to help me breathe better when I sleep and I've found out what it actually means to get a good night's sleep. I honestly cannot say when was the last time I truly got a night's sleep, pre-CPAP.

I am a military spouse. In my two years here on the Outpost I've never mentioned it, but I'll say it now--my husband is in the military. I, on the other hand, am very liberal and don't agree with most of the military agenda.
