No good alternatives there so I'll take choice #4:

Locked in a dark room with John Mark Karr.

Speaking of cameras....I wish every corner had one. Here is why. First, one camera set up does the job of many cops. One person can watch many areas at once. Second, on my way home today I saw 2 people run red lites. 2! Running a lite is no joke and I wish they would catch every one of these jerks. I would feel safer with cameras everywhere.

Great thing to wish for. You should try living in a police state before you wish for it.

Or we could just do what we are doing which is nothing but bitch about what is wrong and wish for better times. Choose your poison. Nobody is going to convince me that more cameras are going to turn NY into a police state, thats just silly. We have to dodge crime every day and we need something done. And I will reply to save the negative comments: "yeah phil, you will love it when men with machine guns are on every corner...blah blah blah" I said cameras, not robots with lazers. Cameras for more safty.Live in NY and you would feel the same way.

I live in East Oakland. We've had 67 murders between Jan 1 and June 30 of this year. You don't have to condescend to me about crime. I'm on the neighborhood crime & safety committee and work to keep my neighborhood safe constantly. On Tuesday, I caught four teens breaking into a local day care and apprehended two of them by myself. I've gone out and taken photos and video of all of the local gang (ironically named "The Whiteys") and supplied them to the OPD. Now the bastards won't come within 100 ft. of my house because they know they're being watched. I'm not just spouting. I'd love to have a fool-proof system but I'm not willing to live in Communist China to get it.

I've lived in a police state. I've lived under martial law. You haven't. Believe me, you don't want it. And how is a guy that hates politicians so much so willing to give them control of your life? Who do you think will determine how these things are used? I recommend thinking issues through before randomly opining about how necessary they are.

I don't feel so good about "Big Brother" watching my every move. If you do, hey...more power to you.
