This is cool! I wasnt sure if this was going to be a good thread or not...but it's turning into a neat one! I thought I was pretty well versed in 80's music but Im fast learning how much of a novice I really am! Im going to do my best to download what I can from these lists but who knows what kind of monster Ive just created...LOL I think Ive just created searches that will take me many more years! What fun!

I'm crap at getting "obscure" as far as this forum goes, but here goes:

Coconut Rough, "Sierra Leone"
DAF, "Der Mussolini"
The Dolphin Brothers, "Catch The Fall"
Paul Haig, "Adoration"
Blancmange, "Sad Day"
November Group, "Night Architecture"
The Twins, "Face To Face, Heart To Heart"
My Bloody Valentine, "She Loves You No Less"
Space Monkey, "Dark One's An Angel"
Beggar & Co., "Mule (Chant #2)"
Classix Nouveaux, "Tokyo"
Fingerprintz, "Punchy Judy"

Er, that'll be it. I concede to totally losing this game around here. ;)

DevoManiac -- you actually know more Nine Ways To Win other than "Close To You"?? OMG, I adore that song and would jump at the chance to hear more from that band. And I definitely know "The Last Flight Of Yuri Gagarin" -- it's one of those "weird" songs off _Listen_.

firefall: I love Dirty Looks' "Lie To Me", the Human League's "Blind Youth", and "I Don't Wanna Be Like That" by Joe Jackson.

Wow, Frank Chickens, is the Nick Straker Band something one would like if one loves Tony Mansfield's music? Because he = genius to me.

waukena, awesome for naming "Straight To Hell", "Gary Gilmore's Eyes", "She's So Modern", "Down In The Park", and "Less Cities More Moving People". I love all those songs. And I could swear I've heard "Another Girl Another Planet" before, but I can't think of what it sounds like.

Panorama: I've heard those two Our Daughter's Wedding songs before. :)

Filmmick: Ooh, "Kinetic" is one of my favorite songs ever. Have you seen Rubellan's upload of the music video? It is awesome. And "Yellow Pearl" was once used as the theme tune for the early '80s incarnation of "Top Of The Pops", wasn't it? And good call re: "Fast Or Slow".

Oor, dcappe, I love those New Musik and Tears For Fears songs, and "Phasers On Stun" by FM is way cool too.

HEY, I know more "obscure '80s" stuff than I thought....

I hate this song (pathetic Split Enz rip), but ironically, I did have "As Good as It Gets" on my turntable sometime within the past month... because Spaz brought them up. I also liked "Once in a While," which Mushroom left to rot on the B-side of a really bad song called "Leisure Time" (released after they had already broken up, IINM).

Double post because I just read Filmmick's post -- which alerted me to the fact that this thread wasn't started on August 27, 2006, but August 27, 2005. Ergo, I can't imagine the OP cares anymore. But all the same, welcome to the forum!
