Favorite Next Wave Band

Discussions about the new generations of bands influenced by '80s New Wave and Postpunk

Favorite Next Wave Band

Postby Dave » Fri Sep 01, 2006 12:01 pm

Time for a vote? I chose these bands because 1) they were frequently mentioned on this board and 2) they have at least one prominent new wave band list as an influence on AMG. Sorry if your fav isn't here!

So, in alphabetical order....

This really is a great poll, but it is very difficult to pick only one band while having such great names mentioned. I would only add The Rakes to the list.

I'm still with Franz Ferdinand, but very close to them: The Arcade Fire, The Strokes and Interpol

I'll go with Interpol, every trip of the train. But FF is a very close second.

Interpol, for me. BTW - Editors should be on this list. My 2nd favorite. BSP, my 3rd.

Can I add Art Brut. I just discovered them days ago and can't "Emiley Kane" or " Good weekend " out of my head.

So who did you vote for Mechi?

And no one has voted for Artic Monkeys yet. They just won the Mercury Prize for best British album. Scritti Politti were also nominated!

Somehow it seems to me that the Monkeyz are the beginning of the end for Brit rock. I think that the modern bands are starting to sound all the same. Somehow singsong and monotonous.

The two safest bets:

Ollie for the Epoxies
Blir for BSP

Your unwavering support is admirable... if not pathetic [:D]

The knowledge that you (among others) can read me like a book!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go listen to The Epoxies.

Just all y'all start getting prepared for a blirwin-BSP nauseafest soon. My Limey connections tell me they've been previewing a bunch of new tracks from an upcoming album on this summer's UK tours. [:p]
