Woodcrest Rd. I don't know how to tell you what it's near. Nothing is the same any more. It's just off S.Broadway before you get to Oyster Bay rd. If you're heading south on B'way. make a right on Bloomingdale Rd. another on Michigan and a left onto Woodcrest. I haven't been there in a really long time but the last time I looked it was like major ugly. My mom lived there till she died a couple of years ago. Bought it in 54'for $11,000.00.

I live pretty close to that area. Woodcrest may be Bethpage school district. I'm not to sure.

They were really confused when I was a kid. Went to school first in Bethpage than Plainview, than Westbury.

So how long have you lived there and did you choose it or just stay on? I headed for THE CITY as soon as I was abel. Out a window and gone.

My father is Hicksville High, Class of '61 (or thereabouts).

His family bought into the 'burbs in the early 1950's, too, brand new split-level. Don't know what they paid. The house is still in the family.

My grandfather and my aunt's family bought houses 2 doors from each other in Hicksville in the late 40's on Spindle Rd. My one cousin still lives in their house. He graduated in '67 and shared a math class with Billy Joel.

Well, I didn't realize how popular Hicksville was.

Stella, I moved out of Hicksville and N.Y. after I graduated high school. I moved back a couple of years later. Mainly because I was 21 or 22 and I was a party girl. There was no better place to be in the 80's than Long Island. I ended up getting married and buying my first house here. Though I did live elsewhere on Long Island.
I grew up down the block from Billy Joel though he was much older then me. One of my best friends lived right next door to him. I lived a house away from the famous "Virgina" in the song Only the Good Die Young.

abacabb, I grew up a few blocks away from Spindle Road.

Marie, it's northeast Hicksville. Near Woodland Elementary. The end of their street abuts Syosset.
