Something About Sluts And Vampires/The Futureheads

Postby ghosty » Sat Nov 06, 2004 11:26 am

In keeping with the current craze of 00' bands adapting an 80's sound, you guys should check out Something About Sluts And Vampires. Very Joy Division and The Cure.

The Futureheads are getting a lot of press right now and their new record sounds like it was cut in 1983.

Anybody else keeping up with these new bands?

I will be checking them out shortly. With a name like that, they must be good. I also like the name Dogs Die In Hot Cars but I don't know if they're any good or not. Any other recommendations?. I've been really loving Moving Units, Ikara Colt, and The Thermals lately.

Moving Units are terrific! Hopefully they'll get more airplay than just college radio (at which point we at college radio we'll decide that they're uncool now and ban them from the station LOL). "Between Us And Them" would be a huge single if this was 1982.

Check out "Robot" by The Futureheads too. Nifty.

The extended mix of The Magnetic Fields' "I Thought You Were My Boyfriend" is much better than the album version. Sounds very much like Wolfshiem.

Just d/l'd Robot and I love it! Especially the ending. Still trying to find Sluts and Vampires though. Thanks for the recommendations!

I just heard the Futureheads doing a cover version of "Let's Dance" (Bowie) this morning!

Dogs Die In Hot Cars are very XTXish in my opinion and worth checking out!

Whoa ... what an old ass topic. [:D]

All the bands in this thread are well worth checking out. I just listened to Something About Vampires and Sluts (Ghosty had the name backwards) last night. Good shit.
