UPDATE: The New Wave Channel

I just received the e-mail below from Music Choice. This is wonderful news for fans of the New Wave Channel. Nope, the '80s and the New Wave Channel are not going to merge. Looks like my theory is correct, though, on the New Wave Channel adding more material that people don't classify as New Wave because of the times in which they were released.

Thanks Michael. That is good news! Although it does make me a little nervous wondering about the "new material that people don't classify as New Wave because of the times in which they were released." I suspect that the bulk of this new material is from the '90's. Which is fine, but hopefully they won't skimp so much on the older classics.

On the other hand, it will be nice to hear something other than the Replacements and The The every ten minutes. I was fearing the worst, but seems like things will work out fine.

Hey look kids, I'm resurrecting an old topic.

I'm working at home, so I've been listening to musicchoice(on Comcast) all day today.

What channel? I'm on 415, aka the RetroActive, which describes New wave and post punk madness. I was surprised to hear the Surban Lawns "gidget goes to hell", but it was from the "just cant get enough" comp. They even had blurbs about the band and Su Tissue. But it is VERY hit and miss. For every 4-5 "deep" tracks they play, a stupid top 40 JACK-FM like song sneaks in there. They need to not play "sunglasses at night" after a good Comsat Angels track.

This is sure as hell a lot better than Comcast's Rhapsody service. That had almost nothing for tracks, and a horrible GUI. And, you can listen to all the audio channels on your computer. But you have to use IE and it has DRM junk on it.

Aw. I miss the RetroActive channel on Music Choice. I haven't had cable for about four months and there are a few things I hadn't thought about that I used to be able to get with cable, and this was one of them. I mean, with my satellite package I definitely do get some audio channels courtesy Sirius radio, which means I totally have that "First Wave" thing, but it's not the same. They don't flash those interesting tidbits of information on the screen the way those Music Choice audio channels would, and they don't play enough obscure stuff. Aw. That's another thing I miss, right there.
