King Steps in Time Request

Postby TexLonghorn » Tue Sep 12, 2006 5:44 am

I can't believe an album as good as Steps in Time has fallen into obscurity and is no longer in print. I have the Best of CD, but a lot of quality Steps in Time songs are missing. I know it can be found online from some sleazy dealer somewhere who thinks they can charge $50+ for it, none of which ever gets back to the artist, but I was wondering if I might be able to find a few tracks from Steps in Time from y'all.
Mainly:
3. And As For Myself
6. Unity Song
7. Cherry
10. Fish (Reprise)
12. Endlessly
13. Fools
14. Ain't No Doubt
15. Classic Strangers
and 16. Soul on My Boots (Rub a Dub)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In case nobody can help you with this, you can find many copies of this lp for under $10.00 here:

Sadly, my technology isn't on par with that.
I don't have any way to convert vinyl. [:(]
Curse the advancement of technology!!

It's just sad how many really good songs don't make a band/artist's "best of" CD and get forgotten...

Getting the tracks you want from someone here for free when the CD can be purchased (granted, it may be a bit pricey) does nothing for the artist either. Just my opinion of course.

Yes, Grunch, but considering the reseller on Amazon is selling it USED at $49.95--that's certainly not helping the artist either and is extortion at best as far as I'm concerned, when some of us around ten years ago bought it when it became available on CD from Oglio records and bought it at $17? $18? TexLongHorn--Oglio records states that the CD is now out of print. You should keep your eyes open for it on ebay. In the meantime, if you Email me (from my profile) and let me know which of those is your favorite, must have track, I'll be happy to send a copy of that particular one to you while you wait for a more realistic offer on ebay.

Check your e-mail Tex. Enjoy.

Amazingly, I found the Oglio CD release back in 1999 for $12.99.

Yeah, this is really difficult to find, even on file sharing programs. I've searched and nobody has it. Also, who wants to pay over $50 for a used CD? That's ridiculous.

Just in case anyone is wondering, Cherry Red records did relay to me that they have put in an application to re-release Steps In Time a few months ago, but they also said it could take over a year to go through.

Agreed. I am amazed that more people haven't demanded this release. I've got Steps in Time, Bittersweet, Paul King's Joy, and a number of remixes.

Hmmm, maybe they read the somewhat less than glowing <a href="http://www.trouserpress.com/entry.php?a=king">Trouser Press review</a>.

Since the CD is really <a href="http://1800coolcds.stores.yahoo.net/81567-2.html">out of print</a>, here is:

<a href="http://rapidshare.de/files/33094173/King_-_Steps_in_Time__192kbps_.rar">King - Steps in Time (192kbps)</a> (warning, Rapidshare and over 100MB)

and if more is needed, <a href="http://robertopoland.blogspot.com/2006/08/king-love-and-pride_28.html">Love and Pride: the Best of King</a> was recently posted on Robert Poland's blog.

Bittersweet, long OOP, was never released on cd in the US, to my knowledge, but is fairly easy to find on vinyl and generally cheap (< $10). I just ripped it from vinyl myself - email me if you're looking for tracks.

Here are the Bittersweet tracks, in zipped AAC format. B-side is a bit crackly.

My pleasure, Marv. Bittersweet is a fantastic album.

Speaking of Oglio, if I'm the CEO, Steps in Time and Wire Train's In a Chamber / Between two Worlds are two re-issues I'd certainly fire up again . . .
