Ooh, you totally asked at the right time, i.e. when I was going to announce that (former Song Of The Week-ers) Language are now on MySpace, because there's a connection between the two. See, Bob Carter was the keyboardist in Language and had actually done production on all of the band's tracks until the record company stated they wanted more commercial-sounding stuff, at which point Alan Shacklock was brought in to elicit forth a more commercial sound. And the reason why Carter was brought into the fold in the first place was because of his involvement with "Mama Used To Say", including having produced said track.

So now, having said that, please hold while I upload said track for your listening pleasure.

Edit: You may now right-click, download, and enjoy.

Ooo now that's a flashback. Most people forget that KROQ used to play a lot of funk, mixed in with the new wave and rock. White Lines was one of the most requested songs in the late 80's. BTW, the sendspace site cuts off the download after 1MB???

I don't recall KROQ playing Junior, but I do remember Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambatta, Jermaine Stewart, Prince (of course! Where else did I hear "Controversy" back then?) Grace Jones, Terence Trent, and Ton Loc among others.

It's possible that only Freddy would play it, i remember it clearly. Here's another KROQ soul track that might jog a few brain cells:

You know, someone should start a thread...

Yep, Drew, only Freddie Snakeskin played that one! Among other tunes only he would play.
