Anyone have "I'm The Answer" by Pete's brother Simon? If memory serves, his sound was more in line with Paul Weller than with his brother. But it's been quite awhile since I've heard his stuff.

Thanks!

Actually, he sounds a great deal like Pete, the vocals are almost dead on. At least on his first release. The song 'I'm The Answer' is almost a dead-on Pete Townshend. That whole release was sadly overlooked - it is excellent. His second id also well worth getting. I actually found a CD of his from many years later, nice unexpected find. Here are two tracks from 1983's Sweet Sound. I'll agree there is a Weller vibe as well.

I have no mp3's to offer but a true story about him.

When I was attending Arizona State University, a friend in the "biz" got me a couple free tickets to the show at a place called After The Gold Rush. A buddy and I went (it was a week night) and during the show, we approached two girls who were so far out of our league beautiful it was not even funny. We asked them if they wanted to go meet Simon after the show (as promised by my friend) and of course that hooked them. Needless to say, it cost a fortune in drinks for the remainder of the night but we could care less- we were, after all, with two incredibly gorgeous women. The show ended, a great time had by all, we led the girls, hand in hand, backstage....only to find out Simon was "sick" and wouldn't be seeing anyone![:(!]
Needless to say, the girls were less than impressed, left immediately, and from that moment on I hated Simon, who I then considered a Pete wannabe. That is the last memory I have of that night, the next thing I know I woke up in my dorm room, no idea how I drove home or where I parked my car. It was the last time I ever drank a Long Island Iced Tea or listened to Simon.

Thanks a bunch, Grunch! It's been too long since I've heard this stuff.

And you're right, "I'm The Answer" would have been right at home on one of Pete's solo records.
