How about that movie with Michael Keaton where he is dying so he video tapes his life for his unborn baby. That was sad as hell. But the king (or queen) of them all is Beaches! I dare you not to cry.

I can tear up with the best of them but Beaches didn't do it for me.

I wouldn't have thought about Welcome to the Dollhouse if not for the comments here. I thought I had scrubbed that out of my brain long ago!

I saw something called The Reflecting Skin about 15 years ago - all I remember was a lot of kids being abused, everyone looking like they were in the midst of a funeral, and that I wanted to take a shower afterwards or shoot myself. Thoroughly dark, depressing and it dragged on & on & on.

I'm not a real big fan of depressing movies.

I do love post-apocalypse movies - I thought Threads was the most graphic, but Testament & When the Wind Blows both have stuck with me all these years. I think it was that they weren't big-scale movies & dealt with families trying to make it through.

I have to agree with Testament. It still gets to me if I think about it too much. Awful, sad, and sombering movie. I do love the way it's narrated by the Mom.

me too.

Last week I threw in "Of Mice And Men", Gary Sinise / John Malkovitch version.
The week before that we watched "The Elephant Man".
But these were not as depressing as "Grave Of The Fireflies", which we watched several weeks ago.

<p align="justify">That music vid used clips from Dalton Trumbo's [i]Johnny Got His Gun[/i]. Both, book and film, are HIGHLY recommended reading and, indeed, they are very depressing, although the book also has some really dark humour.

8MM (Nicolas Cage) was the lowest I've seen. Good movie but it's so down that I don't want to watch it again.
