Bummer man--not a Yankee fan but his death is a shame.

That is sad at reminds you of over 25 years ago when Thermon Munson Died in a plane crash.

Lidle was a decent pitcher with the A's years ago.

I immediately thought of Munson, too.

It's tragic, of course, but harder to swallow because it's someone familiar to many of us baseball fans.

I'm actually relieved that tonight's Mets - Cardinals game was postponed (thanks to the crappy weather), as the whole situation today, I feel, as a fan, really would have cast a pall over the game. I know I'd have trouble getting into it.

Let's see if the NY sports writers can find a way to connect Arod's postseason struggles with this tragedy.

I was listening to news radio while waiting to pick my kids up from school. I caught the middle of the story and they were saying a plane hit a building and I'm thinking, "Is this some story about 9/11? Is this happening now?" It was freaking me out because I didn't know what the hell was going on.
What a shame. [:(]

My heart goes out to his family especially his young son. Also to you New York folks; I'm sure this brought back emotions of five years ago.
Lidle was unstoppable for a stretch in 2002 for the Oakland A's.

It's definitely a tragedy, but Lidle's wife and 6 yr old are probably well equiped to soldier on with their $100,000+ pension for the rest of her life. But how 'bout this flight instructor, Stanger, who had a pregnant wife and another young kid? I'm guessing she doesn't have a next egg coming to her. It sucks all around, but I guess this happens every day all over the world with very little fanfare.
