I use the word "Spic" all the time. Followed by "and Span." Please don't ever, ever write the word "Mick," though. That has the potential to offend upwards of 0% of the Irish population. Did you know it's offensive to call a person from China a "Chinaman?" You can call a guy from Ireland an "Irishman." A guy from England a "Englishman." A guy from France a "Frenchman." But say the word "Chinaman" and you'll have the Asian rights groups on your back faster than you can say "Yao Ming."

Oh, "faggot" is OK, too. The administration's friends use it, so it must be.

I think that some people find spic offensive so I deleted it.
That's basically it.
Quite honestly I didn't see the post with "Flip". If something like that bothers you again, please email the mods or Mike P.

Marie, I think he was saying that nobody complained when he referred to Philipinos as "Flips". It would be hard for him to be offended by the term when he used it as a self descriptive.

Way to go Marie. Nothing like throwing the first ammendment out the window. I can name at least ten other things on the boards that offend me a thousand times more than spic did. Maybe someone on MTV or that fat guy from "King of Queens" will make the term "Spic" trendy and Hip and then wont you feel like a stupid. Mexican, Equidorians, Peruvians, Paraguayans, Uraguayans, Chillians, San Salvadorians, Venezualans and Californians all over the world will be proud to be "Spics" I know I am [;)]

From wordorigins.org

Spic

Many believe that this derogatory term for a person of Latin American descent is a clipping of Hispanic. While this appears plausible on its face, it is not correct. Use of the term Hispanic to refer to a person of Latin American descent, especially one living in the United States, only dates to the early 1970s. The epithet spic, on the other hand, dates to the early days of the 20th century.

So if it did not come from Hispanic, where did it come from? Spic is a clipping of the adjective spiggoty which was applied to immigrants from Central and South America because they did not "spiggoty English" (speak the English). The term probably arose among Americans in Panama during the building of the canal. The abbreviated spic was in use by 1913.
The earliest known use of spiggoty is in the 14 March 1908 issue of the Saturday Evening Post:

All Americans are alike. They do not bother to learn foreign languages when they go to a foreign country, but they force the natives to learn American. So, when the Panamanians presented themselves, if the could talk English, they prefaced their attempts to cheat the Americans out of something--it really made little difference what--with the statement, accompanied by eloquent gestures: "Spik d' English." If they couldn't they said: "No spik d' English." One or the other was the universal opening of conversation, and those early Americans soon classed the whole race of men who could or could not "Spik d' Eng." as "Spikities," and from that grew the harmonious and descriptive Spigotty.

(Sources: OED2, ADS-L)

From urbandictionary.com:

flip

A derrogatory term for filipinos, means Fucking Little Island People, as some soldiers would call filipinos during world war two. The teenager of our days now use it as a name for filipinos, which is not right at all since they should be educated on the roots of that word.

There are also multiple versions of the meaning of "Spic" at urbandictionary.com, but the version above seemed to be more objective, so I went with that.

Now you know.

I'm hurt by all these comments. Lets all band together people! Lets get together and know we are all equal. Well, not the Jews, but everyone else.

(winkie winkie-just making light of this)

While it's nice to know of your diminished self-esteem regarding your racial/ethnic background, I'd like to just take a moment and remind you of something you agreed to when you joined this forum:

In your use of these forums, you agree that you will not post any information which is vulgar, harassing, hateful, threatening.....

Of course an exception can be made for you Ben. We can call you Spic if you really want [xx(]

<p align="justify">Yes, this is all fine and dandy, but how do you kids feel about illegal immigrants who are poor, unskilled laborers, who pay little - if nothing in taxes - but take and take state benefits in terms of tax-payer funded school, housing, and healthcare? I don't doubt they are hard workers, but these illegal aliens, as a whole, take more from the state than they give. Don't forget that a lot of the money these people earn, they ship out back to Latin America, so even their spending power is being lowered here in the states as they funnel funds from this country and into another country. Of course, there are also the unscrupulous employers who hire these illegals - they're as much to blame for these financial problems. It is the hi-jacking of the state's economy and crashing it to the ground[xx(]

And of course there's always his self promoted term, "fucknut".
Is'nt it unusual that one of the most offensive people can be so easily offended a "thousand times" over?
