Obviously we'd all probably wish Curtis to still be alive, but are you satisfied with the way the music scene turned out without him or would you have liked to see what he would have been capable of?

Without him, New Order found their own style and became the biggest electro-dance-pop group of all time and greatly influenced club music and culture even to today. With him, what would have happened? Continued great and amazing music or an inability to sustain the intensity and a gradual, disappointing fadeout?

Your thoughts and preferences?

Wow. This is a good one to think about. As I read the post I started wondering if Dave Grohl would have ever released all the music he's done as FooFighters etc. if Cobain had lived....

Thoughtful responses. They made me think it'd be a cool subject for a "Butterfly Effect" type of movie...a new wave "what if" film where one of us travels back in time to try to change music history. I wonder what the unintended consequences would be?

I don't know, comparing Grohl, Curtis, Morrison and Cobain is like comparing apples to oranges. Curtis was onto something for sure. A visionary? I don't know, maybe. What has launched in the wake of Joy Division has been impressive.

Ian Curtis, without a doubt. The power of Joy Division resulting in New Order (Power, Lies, Corruption is an all-time great album). The X-15 CD "Bombs and Insurance" carries a track (not on the www.cdbaby/X-15 samples. Got to buy the thing. Very worth

I prefer the way it turned out with NewOrder. Joy Division takes some getting used to. It doesn't reach as many music fans as NewOrder did. Albrecht's voice is more timbrally pleasing, the riffs and the hooks are catchier, the lyrics are uplifting and dow
