Yeah, but try it in a skirt, pantyhose, and high heels!

Ditto that! When I lived in Japan for three years, I got pretty comfortable squatting over a porcelain hole in the floor--that is, after I ruined a couple pair of shoes (in our culture, only little boys are taught to aim!). But I hated to use that type of toilet if I wore a skirt, pantihose, heels, and often, also a coat. It was crazy complicated to keep all that clothing from dragging into the muck (plus, the floor is always wet) while hovering and holding my balance and trying not to step into the hole. I often saw bathroom stalls where the previous user missed the hole completely when taking a dump (must have been a "gaijin"--foreigner). The poop was piled up at the rear, completely outside of the hole. Oh, boy, somebody left a gift. [xx(]
To answer the original question, if I'm away from home, I'll do it, but only if absolutely necessary. I hate to do it away from home, but I'm not going to make myself ill waiting to get to my own bathroom. First I scout for the best location, as far out of the way as possible. I'm certainly not going to do it in a high traffic location or where the restroom door opens right into an office or restaurant. I also take care to minimize the evidence. I flush frequently, both for odor control and sound masking. And I always carry wipes in my purse. And then I get the heck out of there!
BMG, you're too funny.
