Is Jack Black Funny?

Postby djcraig » Tue Oct 24, 2006 2:51 am

Over the weekend I saw part of the repeat of The MTV Music Awards featuring Jack Black. Had to change the channel. Just saw his new video as Tenacious D. Not a bad song but...

Every time I've seen the guy it seems he does all the same stuff Belushi used to do- the crass humor, mugging for the camera, etc.- only when Belushi did it it was actually funny.

Am I missing something?

I'm probably in the minority, but, I never liked Belushi. I like several of Jack Black'r roles, he plays a really good stoner type dude. I'm going to watch Nacho Libre on DVD this week, hopefully it won't be a waste of time.

Correct answer is "yes", very funny. You guys just don't get his highfalutin' humor that's all.

The only halfway funny thing he's done is "F*** Her Gently". Besides that...meh.

I liked the movie where he fell in love with fat Gwennyth Paltrow. Other than that, nope, don't care for him.

Naw.I was raised on Monty Python in the mid 70,s that raised the bar very high on the humour scale for me.

He was good in High Fidelity in a supporting role and he's already made the one movie perfect for him as a lead, School of Rock. Other than that, he's never made me laugh. In fairness, though, I've never seen or heard any Tenacious D.

Sometimes... but others he's boring as hell.

But I come from a different country in which people like a different type of humour.
