I was pleasantly surprised to find this DVD in my mail already. A harcore Chameleons connoisseur friend had warned that it's a bit limp compared to some of their epic performances. She also urged me to pick up the UK import VHS of Resurrection instead as the seminal Chameleons piece, but who needs the hassle. This DVD has some the weak points that in filming and performance that some have mentioned, but it's still essential IMHO for any fan. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Mark Burgess' post-Chameleons project, the Sun and the Moon, is my favorite album of all time. The Chameleons are one of the greats. "Tears" was among the most popular songs in the Philippines during the '80s, and it continues to get airplay (both versions) over there.

Any idea where to get this cd? (Not asking for a cdr/mp3s) I believe it has gone OOP.

Yeah, it pops up on ebay from time to time. Look for the import version with 4 or 5 bonus tracks, that is the keeper. It is black with a yin yang symbol on it.... I never picked that one up. The original masters are currently tied up in limboland... here's to a new version of that CD one of these days.

Mark Burgess has also recorded 3 albums with the group Sons of God . Zima Junction, Spring Blooms Tra-La and Manchester 1993. There is a Live version of Tears on the Spring Blooms Tra-La album, hard to resist, so I ordered the first two albums.[:)]

For Sun and Moon CD, try Red Sun Records from Germany, they are easy to deal with, take paypal, and may syill offer the CD The Great Escape which is really that whole LP plus some bonus tracks.I have the domestic Sun and Moon CD and Great Escape with bonues, which are eseentially those that came on their CD singles back then. Red Sun also takes paypal.

Chameleons fans may also want to try these other Chameleons-related releases, in addition to the excellent Mark Burgess CD's: The Reegs, Invincible, even drummer John Lever has a solo that is good, called Beefpig. Mark's solos are all excellent, I think Red Sun may have most or all of these, except maybe the full Reegs CD's (2).

My friend from Australia gave me "THE SUN AND THE MOON" CD and it's an excellent album. I bought "STRANGE TIMES" and "SCRIPT OF THE BRIDGE" CDs more than a decade ago because I think these two albums were their greatest album. "TEARS" is the NEW WAVE staple here in MANILA which was introduced by WXB102 back in 1986. It's also among the TOP 10 NEW WAVE SONGS on the recently concluded XB countdown that MIKE SUTTON tallied. Recently, "TEARS" was included on the PHILIPPINE NEW WAVE COMPILATION ALBUM entitlted "NEW WAVE ESSENTIALS". Great band!!

The Sun And The Moon album is, imo, up there with The Chameleons stuff. The other Mark Burgess projects are also pretty great. 'Happy New Life' is one of my favourite songs of all time. Seeing him play in Glasgow in November.

I did not see The Sun and the Moon cd listed on the Chameleons web site, or the Red Sun web site. I did see it on ebay, but didn't want to pay the price it was going (headed) for without ever having heard any of it before.

Maybe Alex Hush can put an appropriate track on an upcoming compilation[:p]

Mark Burgess tours every now and then, so keep your eyes peeled for the opportunity. I saw the Chameleons a 5 or 6 years ago at a club in NYC, and they were great. I also saw Mark Burgess and the Sons of God in Hoboken a number of years ago, and they were fantastic. It's exhilarating to see such a great band in such small venues.
