Yeah, that is a good link. I've been using the wikipedia entry for info myself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stem_cell
You can really get lost in the abundance of links all these sites provide. But as you say, organizations "like these", be they right to life or right to choice or what have you, can skew perceptions. What I try to do is find an article that refutes what one side presents as fact. If I don't find anything, I go with it. At some point you have to ask yourself is everything a lie or can I reasonably go with some information?

Medicating Parkinson's is extremely tricky. It has taken the physicians over 6 years to finally find a correct combination of drugs and dosage for my father. In the past, my father suffered every time they changed his medicine. Now that he's on the "correct" meds, his only symptoms are occasional strong and violent tremors that he has zero control over.

Very true. Especially in the later stages of the disease where the line between freezing episodes (too little drug--or "off" periods) and dyskinesias (Too much drug--or "on" time) is very thin. I've had to make liquid levadopa/carbidopa that patients have had to take every hour on the hour to not freeze up or have too many tremors.

As far as MJF purposely "stopping" his meds to demonstrate the extent of the disease (even assuming that's true) my reply would be so what? The bottom line is that he will eventually be like the patient I deescribe above. What's wrong with demonstrating to the lay public the hell he has to go through and will to continue to go through for the rest of his life? Remember, there is no cure for PD, and most of our pharmacologic based treatments has severe problems associated with them.

Exactly.

Fox is a professional actor and Limbaugh's a professional blithering idiot asshole. So how is this newsworthy when they were only doing what they were put on this Earth to do? It must have been a slow day for stingray attacks or something for this to make headlines.

Rush Limbaugh is an insensitive, blithering idiot who probably laughed when Muhammad Ali lit the torch at the '96 Olympics. Clods like Limbaugh are looking to get a rise out of us rational folks.

Beware I live ... bwahahahahaha![}:)][:D]

Anyway, I agree that Rush Limbaugh is just his usual windbag/a-hole self and the media giving this whole incident way too much airtime. Is anyone really surprised by his insensitivity and political paranoia? Maybe he and fellow "culture warrior" Bill O'Reilly can join forces to scale new heights of sociopolitical divisiveness. Why didn't ya here? There's a new liberal in town and he is even more devious and scheming than ever and his name is: the Secular-Progressive! I suppose this is O'Reilly's new tactic: to lump all moderates in with the liberals and give them a cold, scary hyphenated name that stirs fear in the heart of the heartland. Burn 'em at the stake, I tell ya![;)]

BTW, is Kerry an asshat or what for his latest contraction of foot-in-mouth disease?

What the Hell was he thinking? Hopefully, that will be the final nail in the coffin for his potential candidacy. [V]

I just saw the interview with Michael J. Fox and he states he was on all his medication. His mother is really pissed off because she watched him struggle through the tapings and saw what a hard time he was having.

But FrankenKerry no fit in coffin![:D]

Seriously, what a flagrantly, blue-bloodedly elitist statement to make coming from someone who was fortunate enough to "navigate" his way thru Yale, Skull-and-Bones and big top politics ... until now.

OK - back from trick or treating with the kids. I caught Kerry's remarks on CNN video. Scroll down, it's on the left:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/31/ ... index.html

A Kerry aide told CNN that the prepared statement, which had been designed to criticize President Bush, "was mangled in delivery."

Kerry was supposed to say, "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."

Wow, hella time to "botch up" a statement. It sounds pretty thin to me. The best spin I could put on it is maybe he's just jockeying to get into a position to go head to head with Bush again before the November elections. Still, that's one risky way to go about it.
