Walmart and Christmas

Postby enzfan » Fri Nov 10, 2006 5:25 am

Was watching the news this morining and a Walmart spokesperson was on gleefully blabbering about how employees are once again allowed to wish shoppers a "Merry Christmas" after banning it last year. Obviously they must have taken a slight sales hit last season for this so they will reward customers with the greeting again, anything for a buck.

I hate Walmart, but have no problem with them saying "Christmas." The whole PC, say anything BUT christmas thing last year was pathetic.

What was really funny about the interview was the interviewer trying to get the Walmart exec to step into the racial bucket by asking how will a cashier know if the person celebrates Christmas? The exec stated the cashier can say Happy Hanukkah, Kwanza, or Three Kings Day to the customer. The interviewer being persistant asks but how will the employee determine which greeting to use? Exec says they would make that determination by looking at the customer. It was only a few more questions away from the cashiers racially profiling customers to use what they think the correct greeting would be. The interviewer was leading the exec down that path then the subject got changed to Walmarts price cuts for the holiday season. It almost turned into must see tv.

I much prefer just to say Happy Holidays. It covers everything and only offends people that want to force their religion on the entire country.

The sun never sets on those who ride into it.

Fuck Xmas and Fuck Walmart. This is just one more reason in a long list of reasons I would never set foot in their trash establishment.

Only 2 more days until Mansonmas!!!

Praise Charlie.

Especially since wal-mart has single handedly sent 65% of the US manufactoring industry to China! [B)]

When I go to Wal-Mart they better greet me with a "Happy Festivus" or I'm gonna be pissed.

WalMart sucks.

But I don't care if they or anyone greets customers with a Merry Xmas. We may not all share in this particular "christian" belief or holiday, but you know what ? It's a holiday! This is its name! This name is what it is called! It's the reason we all get a day/ a few days/ a week off! It doesn't offend me. I'm with Wolvie up above. Good grief !
