OK... I heard this once, maybe twice in the early 80's on KROQ.. It had almost a blues brothers quality to it... very catchy... Have no recollection of the name or who sings it, and no search on the lyrics has turned it up... Here is all I know..

This is the Naughty Sweeties but the girl's name is (I think) Alice. But it is definitely the Naughty Sweeties cause I just heard this song 4 days ago on an online station.

Okay, I just confirmed it, it is Alice by the Naughty Sweeties. And if you have any luck finding the song I'd appreciate if you could pass it along...I shall do like wise.

Wow. This is terrific. Once again, I never thought I would find or hear that song again in my life - just the vague memory of a great song (could not even remember the name right). And just like that, you come through with it!

No problem, glad to be able to help once in a while! Funny thing is I don't remember hearing that one out here on KROQ. I do however remember this one which I thought was the only tune KROQ ever played by them.

Yeah, the Sweeties didn't get a lot of play but there were a couple of dj's who were fans.
I was aware of them mostly because this girl I knew was dating one of the members.

As far as I know this was is only version of "Tower of Babble" that exists. I believe they only had one studio LP "Chinatown" (that contained "Alice") and a 4 song live EP. "Tower" wasn't on the full length album and only appeared on the Live EP (Recorded at Madame Wong's). I believe KROQ played the live version I posted. I bought the Live EP after hearing it on KROQ. Seems like a lifetime ago......

Don't forget the City of Glass EP (after they changed their name).
My 12" of Alice/Fool for the City has a sticker on the sleeve that says "Here Comes Alice." I have no idea where they got that phrase from, but what a hilariously unfortunate choice of words.

It's possible the band had a studio version on a test pressing that was sent to the station, but maybe not. It's really hard to remember exactly what something sounded like...Thanks again.
