Actually, you can't get any better than medication's reply when it comes to posts telling you that the song you're looking for is still commercially available. If he/she (?) had not replied, one of our pompous, insensitive, self-righteous friends would have told you to f**k off and buy the cd.

but I guess when I stay out of things one of the "better than eight6" crowd will pop off and send an invite my way.

You asked, so here I am.

So what if D.O.V.S. has a song request, so what if it's commercially available, so what if he's an asshole with his utter disrespect for board rules...hey: this must be like looking in a mirror for you Dar. Aren't you the one who posted the "fuck the rules, let's post our brains out before the mods close us down" shit a couple of months back?

Didn't you have to eat shit and apologize for those moronic posts?

So now, to make you feel like a genius Dar (enjoy it, as it will surely be the only time you experience the thrill):

Hey D.O.V.S., why don't you fuck off and buy the CD. In fact, send me a mailing address and I'll send you the $4.00 to buy it.

On a serious note: skinnytie's post perfectly captures the intent of the board, and the essence of the request process. Nicely put.

I came up with a very long reply to the above just to vent out my anger and frustration. Having cooled off, I put it in the trash. You don't give a shit about what I think anyway, right?

Sigh! There's just not enough love in this world.

I love you, eight6!

This is where the "post police" need to lighten up. The guy is asking for one fairly rare song. Sure you can buy it for 4 bucks + shipping (to the U.K. maybe?) but maybe the guy doesn't have a nickel to his name. Anyway, if he does buy it from Amazon he's buying it used and the artist will not get any money from the sale so what difference does it make if he gets it from someone on this board? The CD IS out-of-print.

DOVS - I'd send you the song if I had it. I'll see if I can find it on SoulSeek.

That's the way you guys are...when I comment on something I'm a bully, and when I stay out of something, I've run for the hills. Perhaps if you learned to shut up once in a while, I might care what you have to say. Might.

BTW: I'll live without your love.

What you say here makes a lot of sense.

I used to just e-mail these if I had the song available or post it if there were multiple requests but the admitedly necessary security measures Mike has had to take has put an end to that. You now have to send a msg. to the requester, await a reply with e-mail address, then send the song.

I've looked on SS as well, and so far I haven't seen it. My offer still stands, I'll send him the money to buy it if he e-mails me an address.

Hey Eight6,
I'm not looking for that CD but I could use the money. I've just seen a nice collection of early 80s vids on offer for 70 bucks + shipping and now I want to start saving my money. So if you want to lose some money on a good purpose...[:D]

Wow! All you have to do is request something on here and some ppl piss and moan then your post gets all kinds of attention?

This is ridiculous.

I ask for a bit of help from mates in the States who "highly recommended" this forum for help in finding rare and oop stuff.

I'm a new user on here not an old member like some have alluded to and I'm disappointed in those that have decided it's "fun" to rip someone they don't know and in some cases, insult. For those sods, I reflect your own insults back at you. Especially the name-calling by some - really piss-poor way to welcome new members.

Again, I merely asked for assistance in finding what has become for me a rare track. I have a large collection that I would have been happy to assist others with via email or whatever. For those buggers who like to rant - FYI - I already have the Sedated in The 80's series where the track appears. I've already bought it once. The track is corrupt because the CD is a used version from Amazon.

For those who understand things like that happen, thank you. For others who are being total jerks...you can toss off.

Didn't know it was such a crime to ask - I'll look elsewhere. This isn't worth the time or the abuse. Members don't come here for that.

Happy Holidays to all. Cheers.

I can't speak for the others here, so I'll speak for myself. Anybody who's opening response to a request is:

deserves the treatment they get. If that means you disappear, don't let the door hit you in the "arse" on the way out. If you're not one of the tender, thin skinned types that expect everyone here to walk on eggshells, you'll find a wealth of great music, info and discussion here.

If I were you, I'd have another look at how you responded to a kind reminder of the forum's rules by a couple of members...one a board moderator. I read your response as "I don't care about your rules, just let me have what I want."

Well, this certainly makes amends for your previous post. Another freebie seeking clown who's knee jerk response to not getting what they want is to throw a temper tantrum.

Maybe you should be the one to piss off.

DeepOceanVastSea

Got a request...

I'm looking for the song "Killing Time" by The Motels.
It's a bit obscure and been searching for a while.

Thanks everyone! I really enjoy this forum.

medication881

That was a B-side to one of their singles if I remember correctly. Anyway, your best bet is the compilation "Sedated In The 80's Vol. 4". Lots of other good songs on there too. Here's the link:

We try to keep song posts here limited to out of print material as it tends to become a bit risky to freely distribute readily available music. Medication was only being a friendly neighbor and answering your question on where to find the track. That four dollar CD is a heck of a deal on Amazon

Stick around for the REAL obscure stuff though

Hmm . . . sounds like everyone was polite to me . . . If DOVS stated his/her case without insulting peoople, maybe the results may have been different . . .

And woohoo! I'm up to 694 posts now . . . [:D]
