Almacantar - some viewpoints

Postby seffe » Tue Nov 28, 2006 5:18 am

This post started with a simple question about the Rescue as you see below, but it turned out to be a post sharing viewpoints about Almacantar. Thats way I changed the subject

The question was:
Does anyone have anything else besides Tell me now from the band The Rescue

After reading Marvys post I hope this isn`t to much to ask for.[:I]

The Rescue is a great band... if anyone has anything else by them, they should send it to me also.

Oh... this is the only song that I have. Here is "Images" from their 1984 "Messages EP."

Anyone else find it amusing that a band called The Rescue was co-fronted by a guy who later became an EMT? (I'll have to take his word on the wonderful johnson.)

Unless I'm reading their vague website wrong, Alma*****r has "Messages" on the release schedule down the road. Given their quality control, I'd wait for the reviews.

Once again, I don't get people like you slamming a label that is re-releasing obscure music that we love and would probably never see the light of day on cd if it was not for Almacantar records. They don't have a quality problem. I own every one of their releases and they are fine. Why do people have to be so negative? Can you do a better job than them? Are you willing to spend your own money to get this stuff released? If not than please be quiet. If you don't want to buy the release, that is your perogotive. There is no reason to ruin it for the rest of us that appreciate what Almacantar Records is doing. The more negative false stuff that people write the less of a chance they are going to bother re-releasing more hard to find titles. Please look at the big picture before making comments.
Thank you

Oh, good. An A********r defender. That's going to make me much more quiet about my disdain for their garbage mastering.

What release are you basing their "garbage mastering" on? One song from a cd that was from DAT? Like I said before, if you can do it better, please do. Otherwise please do not generalise and be negative. If you have facts I would love to see them.

If I have facts of what? That some of their releases are ripped from vinyl? Are the pops and clicks good enough factual evidence for you, Your Highness, or should I get a signed and notarized letter from A********r themselves?

I am still waiting for facts. You can rant and rave all you want but unless you want to spend your money and re-release the stuff you should be quiet. What's up with "your highness"? What is that supposed to mean? Are you trying to be funny? Cute? I am not sure.

You don't like "Your Highness?" What would you prefer? "Your Majesty?" "Your Royalty?" I'm open to suggestions.

Who says I know how to do CD mastering? I don't know how to run the country, either, but that doesn't mean I'm not capable of pointing out incompetence on the part of the person who does. Being honest about the fact that I can't do CD mastering is what sets me apart from the bargain basement company in question.

Now, if I may be "cute" for a second, why don't take your beloved "Autumnal Park" vinyl rip and shove it right up you know where. I can't think of a better place for it, considering what it is.

So you have to resort to personal attacks. Lets meet in Huntington in the next few days so we can talk in person. Then we'll see where the cd gets shoved. We'll also see what you say when you can't hide behind your computer. So when and where should we meet? I know Huntington and Huntington Station pretty well. Hey bring along your friend Grunch. He likes to make personal attacks also. Oh wait he's in Austin, Texas hiding behind his computer.

Is it just me, or does anyone else hear Elton John singing "can you feel the love tonight"?

You get back what you give.

Grunch isn't my friend, although I'm flattered that you feel I have them. All the same, I haven't seen any evidence of him making any personal attacks. Project much?

And growing up in an abusive home, I think I've seen enough physical violence to last a lifetime, and go out of my way to avoid that, but if you honestly want to meet this 6'4", 270lb guy face to face, just tell me where. I'm intrigued what you think you can do. Crap your pants, I'm guessing...

(FYI, I am MUCH nicer on the computer than I am in person when confronted with stupid douches. Luckily, due to my size, stupid douches don't tend to confront me in person.)
