Hi gang, I'm backfilling my New Order catalog and in particular want to replace my 80s studio LPs with CDs. On CD, I only have Substance, Greatest Hits, and a bunch of killer rarities from my friends on this board. Given that, what would you do?

A) Buy each studio CD for ~$53: Movement, Power...,Low Life, Brotherhood, and Technique
or
B) Buy the Retro Box for ~$54

This is the type of dilemma that keeps me awake at night...

But I'd go with the studio releases, for the following reasons:

-This is the way New Order released their music, as intended.

-This is the way a fan would've heard the music, as it was

Yeah, I agree. As nice as the Retro box set is, it's nothing compared to the original releases. You get so much more music if you buy all the original releases. That being said, I would highly recommend buying Retro at some point down the road because it

Well, I'll be the voice of contrary. Buy Retro. Why? It's remastered. The New Order studio albums are more than likely going to be remastered in the next year or two - probably given that 2 CD "deluxe" treatment. I don't have this on any particulary autho

I always hated how my favorite New Order song "True Faith" was edited down so often, including several different edits- but they always seemed to cut short the instrumental part near the end which is such an important buildup to the song's intensity.

Buy all the original albums...then you can do what I did
I have all the albums recorded to one disc (mp3) so I have access to all the goodness in my car (mp3 deck [:D] )
There was also enough room for Joy Division's Substance...
