What's your "Thing" ?

If you feel inclined to share, what is your quirky or weird neurotic habit ?

This question recently came up on a TV show. Mr. KYYX and I had a giggle, then we asked each other. The trick is not to name each other's, but to think of your own. What neurotic quirk do you have that may or may not drive others nuts ?

I'll name [b]one[/b] of mine: I like to open the curtains or blinds at night just before I lay down to sleep. I like seeing the night sky through the windows, and I especially love waking up to a room flooded with sunlight.

One of my neurotic quirks is that I can`t use public bathrooms. I may end up with a bladder infection but it`s a chance I`m willing to risk.
It really becomes a challenge for me when I have had a couple beers or a vodka Cran.

Neurotically checking the NWO whenever I have a wireless connection. And I just got a Blackberry too...trouble. [8D]

I really don't like it when a straw is pointing towards me from my drink or someone else's drink on a table in a restaurant.

Washing my hands, washing my hands, washing my hands.
Especially in a restaurant. If I touch the ketchup, I have to wash my hands, (god knows who was touching it before me) You get the idea. I have wipes with me where ever I go.

If I'm watching a football game on which I have a wager, the remote control must be sitting on the arm of the couch rather than on the coffee table. It also needs to be facing 90 degrees left of the TV. Any variation brings bad luck.

I'm not sure if this is really a quirk or if it's just sound risk management. [:D]

I have many many of them. (suprised?)

I must be the first to read my paper, especially on sunday. If someone else messes my paper up before I read it I get crazy.

I get totally mental if I'm talking to someone and they blow me off in mid sentence. Thats pretty rare thank God. I hate being interrupted by an idiot. You know? Like you can contribute to a story but If someone is in the middle of a story, don't cut him off to talk about something totally different.

I hate public bathrooms
I chew my fingernails, the cuticles, and basically every piece of flesh off the ends of my fingers.
I chain smoke and chew on things...just because I hate not having anything to chew on.
I have to have every single light off in the room before I can sleep
I have to have my clothes folded a specific way...even though the rest of my inventory is messy.
I freak out when people quote movies while the actors are actually saying it.
I will never place anything into an open hand before me.
I am absolutely against putting salt crystals on your food.
I am picky about my food preparation..so I prepare the majority of what I eat.
I cant stand gum chewing. I hate chewing gum.
There are a bunch more....my friends nag me all the time because of my neurotic behavior.

I always have to have my money ready for the checkout. I guess thats a good thing.

If I am a passenger in the back seat of an automobile, I always have to sit on the right side . . . [i]always[/i].

I always have to inform others (even strangers) if they have lint or a piece of string they are unaware of clinging to their clothing. It drives me insane if they don't know and/or don't remove it.

I have a very neurotic aversion to strangers touching me and always place my money on the counter instead of putting it into the cashier's hand.

I refuse to go to movie theaters because for some bizarre reason as yet unknown to me, they freak me out more than any other public place.

I always give people peculiar nicknames in my head so that I can remember them . . . at least that's why I think I give them nicknames. I am still not 100% sure. My most recent one is a new guy at work who (in my head) is 'Cedric the Taint'. His name isn't Cedric, by the way. A few others include: 'Schwoompf', 'Little Dirt Boy', 'Homo Hair' and 'Jäänõu (Ice Bucket)'. I never openly call any of these people these names though and they are unaware of their nicknames.

If I get interrupted while reading, I have to reread the entire paragraph, no matter if I recall every detail of what I just read or not.

Hahaha! Mr. BMG *used* to be like this, too, only he'd take it a step further and, being the helpful guy he is, he'd remove the offending string, stray hair, etc.

Until: One night, when he still worked in retail management, he and one of his co-managers got into an enormous fight--screaming, yelling, the works. Later, they ended up in the backroom with a bunch of other people and he had to make nice. He said he saw a long blonde hair on her shoulder and he reached over to pull it off. But it was attached to her face! He said the room fell silent while he stood there, absolutely horrified, with this super-long hair in his hand.

Anyway, he doesn't ever try to be helpful like that anymore, but if we're in line somewhere, I can practically see him itching to pull stray items off people.

I pick the dead skin out from under my fingernails with my mechanical pencil. Result: I usually have 3 or 4 black fingernails.

Otherwise, I'm pretty well balanced.
