End-of-Year Awards Season again...

Postby Frau_Blucher » Mon Dec 11, 2006 11:18 pm

Anyone else with best forumite nominations?

Greatest Madman Music Poster - No one can touch him...MSK Remembers. Thanks and kudos man.

Most Knowledgeable, Old School Category - Extremely tough choice. Call it a multi-way tie between Schwenko, Eight6, SS, Grunch, & Rubellan. Of course, some may also qualify for the 1st Annual Almacantar-sponsored Greatest Attention to Detail award.

Most Knowledgeable, New School Category - A twofer here, DJCraig & Coop are relentless in tracking this stuff down.

Most Knowledgeable, Post-Jumped-the-Shark New Wave Caricature Era - Another tough call. In the end, I have to give it to the entire nation of the Philippines. Kudos gang, you really know your stuff!

Best Sossisms - The dude's got a stranglehold on the award...DJSoss! Maybe he's winning on historical laurels like "goodbye to youz" and "old school sinister", but the giant Vans signature clearly put him ahead of retrophil's admittedly classic "FUMAS" in the final polls.

The Audubon Animal Reference Award - Wolverine, hands down. The dude can work in squirrels, dinosaurs, and, um, wolverines like nobody's business. Sorry Otters.

Hide in Plain Site Award - Philly of course. Where else could such a loquacious 300-pound circus dwarf be so little-seen?!

Most Dramatic - hmm, another toughie since the clear winner here has demanded to be wiped from the NWO Ledger. We'll have to skip it this year.

What? No NWO shit stirrer of the year award for you? You're too modest.

Agreed on soss...nobody can outsoss the master.

The Most Dramatic award was the most hotly contested, by a number of very worthy candidates. Piss off all of you. I mean that in the best possible way...or do I?

No arguing with this one, although from my selfish perspective both unguarded moment & Grunch are deserving of honourable mention. They have both posted numerous power pop/garage treasures in the Obscure80s Central that I have enjoyed.

Now, is there any appetite for a category Most Likely to Make a Thread Drag On Because They Must Have the Last Word ?

and for just Just Plain Bizarre Threads (or maybe Best Thread Hijacking) it is hard to beat the recent The Rescue thread.

I guess I'll own up to some of that. Still, it'd be a shame if we can't engage in some light zingers without fearing it might get out of hand. I meanl, there's a lot of funny shit that's gone on around here.

I'm on another site with a bunch of Brits and all it is is constant ribbing and light banter back and forth. They look at you funny if you actually answer a question straight. But there's never any big dust-ups. Is it a cultural thing? Then again, people either get banned outright if they do go nuts there or they suffer the clever ridicule of the masses.

Anyway, I digress...

Best Dressed Woman or Metrosexual - it's a toss-up between Hexicon and Marv. We'll put a Prada in closed death match cage and watch them duke it out.

Best Come-Back - Frank Chickens..."If I wanted my come back, I'd wipe it off your face!"

Pocahontas, Girl Explorer Award - Manekineko![;)]

Thank you Blir for bestowing me with such an honor. I will use my award only for good this year, to help the less fortunate and to appear at car shows and amusement parks.

We'd all be remiss if we didn't acknowledge:

Most Flexible NWO Member - this has to go to Frayo, for being so effortlessly able to kick his own ass countless times this year.

Time to grow up Frayo, let others kick your ass. Your job is now to cover that ass.

Does anyone have a photo of this award?
Who voted for these awards and what are the rules and regulations?
Do you need to be present to receive this award?
And is there any shipping and handling?[:o)]
Sorry about that last question, it came out of nowhere.

Blir, I thought you hated these kinds of things. I guess we're skipping the "Most Intellectual" award this year.
