Salsynth - you're sounding like a 12 year old. I believe there was an apology somewhere up above. Take your own advice & move on.

Apology and then he continues to mention my name and tries to spin it again. Please take your own advice and move on.

<br>Very interesting conversation....

I am not here to get involved in the argument, just to state a few comments:

First off, Almacantar has never said that things are not mastered from vinyl. Not all of their releases are from vinyl, but they won't deny the ones that are. This argument all goes back to the 'he should state it on his website if it's from vinyl'. I agree and disagree with that argument. Basically, very few (if any) labels state that info on their site. Should Almacantar state it? Maybe or maybe not. That is really up to them.
Of course they should. That way people can make an informed decision about their purchase.
Unfortunately, those people don't get up here and speak up because of the negative responses that they may or may not receive. Or they may not even come to NWO at all.
It doesn't matter. They voice their opinion by continuing to buy Almacantar's releases. The fact that somebody has reservations about AR's upcoming releases based on his past impressions is not a negative, it's merely a "buyer beware" reaction.
What people should understand is that Almacantar relies on communities like this to get the word out about their releases. When someone becomes vicious about it, it hurts sales.
It couldn't hurt sales as much as a substandard product would. No matter what SS has to say, if the product is up to scratch his words will be found to be baseless.

Well stated Spaz ... well-reasoned and diplomatic![8D]

Of course it would nice in a perfect world for every label involved in so-called 'vinyl mastering' or material sourced from vinyl to state so, but as we have seen, the labels often have to contend with substandard source material from the artists themselves. Maybe we can enlist the music enthusiast equivalent of Tipper Gore to require warning stickers![xx(] Imagine the sales! I mean, in all honesty how many labels (Cherry Red, Almacantar, or otherwise) are going to state this up-front? It isn't until you purchase the product, peruse the liner notes or listen with headphones that the source material becomes apparent. That or wait until the reviews come in. Let's face it ... the best informed decision you're going to get is from fellow enthusiasts. I agree with Spaz that it's typically 1 in 10 that have complaints and the rest are just happy to see a rare release make it into the digital domain in a reasonably listenable form.

That said, why not offer to lend Dean @ Almacantar a hand rather than shun all his label's future endeavors. Maybe a select group here can 'beta test' or demo portions of upcoming releases? Might be worth considering. There's a lot of differences of opinion, but being a part of the process might help us all to reach some kind of common ground. I for one would be more than happy to assist Dean in the future.

I must have missed something...how is that acceptable?

Which brings us full circle...SS's comments are a valid part of any decision to purchase Almacantar's products, and are therefore necessary and valuable. Blind allegiance is poor motivation for quality control.

It must be alright in the eyes of some, since if you are listening with headphones or reading liner notes, Almacantar already has your money.

It's also how we find who we should stay away from. How was "....I'll wait for reviews" vicious? If someone whose opinion we trust (note: I'm not calling SS trustworthy [:o)] ) offers one, we'd be silly (or French) not to listen to it.

Since this arguement has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RESCUE, SS and salsynth: can you open a new topic and name it ALMACANTAR ? or how to purchase remastered CDs without being cheated ? or whatever the HELL you want ?
As far as i know this topic is named THE RESCUE, and we're here to talk about the BAND, not to talk about someone's opinion about a label.

What a joke! Thanks for the lecture...now back to your hole. Face it, this thread was going nowhere until it took a hard left at Scamville.

In that case, it should be a better idea to ask SEFFE or any moderator to rename this topic to ALMACANTAR.
Don't get me wrong, i like the band: THE RESCUE, and it hurts that the only topic available to discuss about this band has turned to a complete garbage fight.

How about "Almacantar to The Rescue" as the thread title. It covers all bases nicely.

Stop trying to hijack this thread.

Hijacking this thread ? Nah, SS and Salsynth already did that.

Right, no hijacking the hijacked thread. It's in the rules.

I'm beginning to wonder if SS (SomebodySomewhere) and Salsynth (SalSynth) are one in the same?
