Photo radar on the freeway I drive for my morning commute caught this guy -

http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/ ... r1206.html

"Pargo was flashed May 21 in his rented Hyundai Sonata at speeds of 102 mph, 105 mph, 127 mph and 147 mph between Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard. As part of the deal, prosecutors tossed out the 105 and 127 mph speeds, allowing Pargo to plead guilty to 102 mph."

(Scottsdale Road to Shea Blvd. is about a 5 mile stretch, the only freeway in the U.S. I believe, to have photo radar and only for that stretch. It is currently not operational as they study it's "effectiveness".)

Teen clocked going 142 mph

Associated Press
Dec. 13, 2006 08:39 AM

VALPARAISO, Ind. - Rushing home so his parents wouldn't be mad, a teenager managed to get them even madder: He was clocked going 142 mph along a four-lane highway.

Brandon D. Raap, 16, faces speeding and misdemeanor reckless driving charges and could have his license suspended, police said.

Sheriff's deputies stopped Raap's Subaru Impreza along a rural stretch of U.S. 30 at 12:40 a.m. Saturday going almost 90 mph faster than the posted 55 mph limit, police said. advertisement

It might be one of the fastest speed ever recorded on the northwestern Indiana county's roads, said Porter County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tim Emmons.

In Arizona, we call this: 2nd Place!

Parents:

If you really must buy your newly-licensed fearless teen an automobile, please consider a used Dodge Colt.
