I just ordered that cd. Does it have After the News on it? Great song, and great video (on YouTube).

I LOVE The Reels. Requiem is a good comp. I've also got their CD Unreel (an earlier comp with many of the same songs) and Neighbors (their 'covers' album which is quite cool).
I've transferred pretty much everything else they've done (or at least that I could get my hands on).
Highly under-rated and should be investigated by all who have never heard them.

After that terrible cover album in 1982, they never recovered. Too bad. "The Reels" and "Quasimodo's Dream" showed a lot of promise.

Actually I "discovered" The Reels when I checked out your YouTube video of the week for The Dugites-good stuff.

RStrathfield's got so many great videos there, I don't know which one to spotlight next!
I'm pretty sure I discovered The Reels when a 45 of "This Guy's in Love with You" was mixed in with some lot of stuff I bought on ePay. It has a really neat picture sleeve (pink, with some '50s-looking chick on the cover), but it's Herb Alpert, and the world didn't exactly require a cover. Regrettably, that was a big hit in Australia, and I guess they decided why bother with good originals when they can have more success with bad covers.
I wouldn't have ever given them another chance had I not run across a copy of "Quasimodo's Dream" for a dollar or two -- not making the connection that it was the same band -- and got hooked on "Shout and Deliver." I still think that's their best track. And "In Your Car" is The Dugites' best track. The latter, at least, packed it in before they became redundant.

I bought their debut back when it came out and was very impressed. Still a favorite LP to this day. "Quasimodo's Dream" was terrible IMHO even tho' it was a big hit in Australia.
I believe Dave Mason is involved in politics in OZ (along with Peter Garret (?) from Midnight Oil).
Stick with the debut and you don't really need anything elase.
