Well, I'm always sad to see people leave as a result of some inane arguement or bullying. As far as Marv as a moderator goes. Even though I don't always agree with his choices, I have to go with the assumption that he's doing it for the good of NWO. It would be easy for me to assume the other way but I find it hard to believe that his intentions are anything but for the good of NWO. Marv seems like a passionate and outspoken person and that carries over into his modding duties.

Again, i don't really agree with the way he's handled some things but he's the mod so, more power to him. And me? Shit, I'm not even from this part of town, I'm from the south side of Chicago here on vacation! [;)]

Real quick, before I go (in order of posts):

NuWaveRx: I'm paralyzed with embarassment. Really, you should'nt have [:I]

Eight 6: I had you pegged from day one. You are a unique flame warrior. You don't really put any "shit" out there. You just stir what other people put "out there". Why so many people completely overlook this simple strategy is beyond me. Then again, those are the same people who put the "shit" out in the first place so there ya go. Is this how they live in reality? Probably. Could you ease up a little? Probably. But in an open-ended forum like this, who am I to say [?]

Motors: Ditto. And big ups for never stooping to the level of using personal information to *attempt* to humiliate anyone. You're right about this board being a microcosm of society. Before making judgments, I always ask myself, "Would this happen in reality? And if so, what would the reaction be?" [|)]

Hutter: You're right. At some point, NNNW became a hotbed for every imaginable manifestation of affrontery - real or imagined. Believe me, I too find it unfortunate when people stop posting. Especially well respected, long terms vets who have been around before you even - not that they may have been offended in any way other than finding the corny drama beneath them. I've said in the past that I would like NWO to be an inclusive environment - and it really is. The only problem is that we really only hear from the whiners [:(]

Rub-A-Dub-Dub: You don't get it. And for someone who's so big on e-mail you have yet to reply to the one I sent you days ago just as you were going on your rampage. But it's ok, you don't have to anymore. Your apology in the other thread will suffice. To go against the grain of just about every single member of NWO in defending you-know-who yet cavort with the very person who ran her off the board, Andy, at your new cyber-home defies logic. Now we know what you mean when you say "it's just a message board". You seem to have adopted his philosophy that because it is, it should defy logic. So much for your steady self-proclomations of being "good-natured" and "fun-loving" [V]

DJ Craig: You need to move on. You never met me. It's highly unlikely that you ever will. If you can't deal with the fact that someone put out an opinion opposite of your own then seriously, turn off the computer. Truly, it's not that important [B)]

"Solange": You're fooling no one. Get a life [xx(]

Philly: Rock on, dude [:D]

Hexicon: Dead on, as always. If I can make an amendment to my prior call for inclusivity, Hexy just nailed it with her comment on the kids. That along with anything that anybody "puts out there" results in the making of whatever bed they'll eventually have to lie in [:)]

Beatschool: Well said. And it would be nice to see you around here more often. BTW, where's my New Order videotape? [:(!]

Wolverine: Yup. Yup and uh-huh. Nailed it. [;)]

Oneno: You say little but you do bring in the laughs sometimes. Another one it would be nice to hear more from. [8D]

Ben: I can dig what your'e (<-aren't you proud of me KYYX?) saying. BTW, you just moved up a notch on the credibility pole. A small one, but one up nevertheless [;)]

Hey, best wishes for a happy and healthy to all of you and your families. Here's a little gift for you all:

Discussion boards, ahhh, the ultimate playground [8D]

I'll confirm Ben's thoughts that Marv IS passionate and definitely outspoken. He's not always right either and would not expected to be by any rational person. No one is. We all think we are. I disagree with him a ton too. One of his best traits is that he doesn't seem to mind. Maybe because I pose things directly to him without some whining, baiting, shit-stirring attitude or ulterior motive, of which there is plenty here! Some people don't see the whole context of some events so may draw severe conclusions. Maybe some judgement is due but maybe hold off on others...or better yet, don't waste your time and just go have fun.

I'll disagree with Motors about mods not being needed. Mods were added as a reaction to some bad shit in the first place. Every place has rules, and rules require enforcement because humans suck (see a history book or watch CNN). I don't believe in laissez faire. I firmly believe too much laissez faire helped the NWO get to this point. I'll also take Eight6's comments that "many mods equal many interpretations of online events" as a plus rather than a minus...checks and balances. Which, ahem, brings me to the crux of my issue lately...

Where are the checks and balances? Meaning where are the other mods and where is the owner? It's weak that they're not in this thread, either to support OR dissent. What are we to think about that? (although I think this thread was a bad idea to begin with, I'm sure Marv's mortified) But if they all had more of a say in other matters, Marv wouldn't need to draw all the fire because there'd either be obvious support for what he says or there'd be healthy dissent and some counterbalance. There's little of either. I know and appreciate that it's not your style, but you can't not speak up and participate.

I would also beg MikeP to post those revised and specific terms and conditions to clarify board etiquette as promised long ago. Then if he and the other mods see some shit that's out of line, they can privately peg it on the spot so we can all move on and not continually relive this nebulous mess. If I don't want people to smoke in my house, I say "don't smoke." If I don't want my kids to be evil shits, I say "that shit don't fly." It doesn't stop 'em from having tons of fun. At other boards, expectations are set not to create a punitive environment but so people know the boundaries and can focus on having a good time. It's an odd paradox that a few rules provide for a lot of freedom and no rules lead to everyone losing their freedom in the free-for-all. Motors, I'll put money down and give you triple odds that THEN mods would not be as needed, but not like it is now.

Apologies to Mike and the Mods (hey, that would be a great gentle wave band name!) for yet again being the hypocritical and judgmental prick that I am.

Sorry for not posting sooner. To me this is immeasurably lame. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time lately to spend here. I’ve spent the better part of the last week watching my brother dying of cancer. So you’ll have to excuse me if I haven’t backed my fellow mods. Things of a greater concern can do that.

I will tell you that I feel that this forum is an amazing place to come and share ideas, meet people and have a generally fun time. Having taken on the role of a mod some months back I decided to lay a bit low and feel out the job. I’m a person of few words to begin with so that made it even easier. But now, after getting a feel of the responsibilities I’ve accepted, hope to take on a greater role. That role is simple, to help make the NWO a growing community.

Mike P. has graciously invited us all here and has asked that we abide by a few simple rules. To me it all boils down to acting like adults. If you can’t behave like one, go back to kindergarten and discuss your problems there.
