Rubbeet's outta here

Postby MikeP » Sat Dec 23, 2006 2:11 pm

Just so you know it was me and not some grand conspiracy theory, Rubbeet obviously cannot keep her personal vendettas off this board, so she is locked out. She was warned and she won't let it go. Offline email conversations are irrelevant to me, but this is my board and I'll do as I see fit.

I don't even feel like a personal email to her is warranted. I almost feel like she is taking advantage of the fact that a lot of us may be too busy to police the boards during the holidays. Shame shame.

To the rest of ya, try to enjoy the holidays. Maybe giving the board a rest for a day or two wouldn't hurt.[|)]

WTF!?!?!?!

Rubbeet is banned from the board????

You know, I admittedly have no fucking clue what is really at the heart of anything - no one tells me shit and I don't ask and like it that way generally. HOWEVER . . . I think that is a rather harsh thing to do, Mike.

Firstly, what I do know is that once upon a time, there was an extremely popular NWO princess who everyone just adored (myself excluded, if I might add now that she no longer reigning Miss Utah). Then some personal shit goes down between . . . whoever. I still don't know (or particularly care). Then, strangely enough, she returns and somehow everyone on the board despises her. All of her once ardent admirers seemingly are repulsed by her mere presence. They hate her so much, that "their personal vendettas" (as you very accurately put it) are all over the board. No one is "locked out." Posts weren't blocked from further discussion.

Look, I am no fan of kimiiii. Quite frankly, I never liked her. I did try to remain civil and was never openly hostile to her. But, I also didn't have a coronary when she returned either. I simply thought: "Oh, well. It's not like we talk to one another anyway." And I didn't know or give a CRAP about her personal life. Yet, somehow when it was kimiiii - these types of personal vendettas were allowed (and even encouraged by moderators) to be expressed all over the fucking place.

I'm just hoping that this "lock out" is a temporary one. I would hope that whatever rubbeet's "issues" are can be seen as a temporary bout of overheatedness. She has been a very decent person and was an attribute to this board, in my opinion. I strongly feel as though her being permanently banned would be rather shitty. Apart from this . . . "outburst", she has never to my knowledge been one to cause trouble on the board.

I actually spent a rather long period of time away from this place, only to return and see posts being edited and locked left and right. While I completely agree that personal issues should be taken off-line, I just think there occasionally seems to be a "might makes right" mentality around here lately and think it sucks. I don't think it should be out of the realm of feesablilty for everyone to just IGNORE folks you don't particularly like.

And yeah, I quite honestly do see a lot of cliqueishness, bullying (Soss, anyone?), elitism, sniping at new members and lack of civility around here lately. It really does put people off.

IT'S FUCKING CHRISTMAS!!!! JESUS H. CHRIST!

Lighten up everyone.

Thanks for your concern ExRat, and believe me I don't take locking a member lightly. There are more than a few people here that will agree with my actions. She is more than welcome to email me at some point and if she can convince me she won't engage in this behavior, I will unlock her member status.

If you happened to notice, a certain new member from Malaysia claiming to be the sister of someone on the board, right out of the gates has been questioning the actions of me and the mods and they also happen to have the same masked IP of the biggest shit-stirrer yet: Andy. I'm no purveyor of consiracy theories but Rubbeet has been keeping company with these very same peeps on NWZ and I believe a lot of this disruption on NWO is deliberate. I don't know if you saw what she tried to post, but it was unwarranted and I don't need it on my board.

Sure, maybe I haven't been consistent in who I dole out punishment to (guilty as charged, I suppose) but just try running a board sometime and you'll see what a bunch of absurd drama goes on: people emailing you to ban this person or that person, being tugged this way and that. I've tried to be even-keeled and this is the last thing I need during the Holidays.

This isn't about suddenly becoming some fascist board operator (give me a break!). It IS about maintain some level of civility and not allowing someone to conduct a relentless slew of personal attacks on my board. I've called a lot of people out and still I'm told I don't call enough people out. Others cry foul when I do. It's a lose-lose scenario overall.

Oh well, ho hum...[xx(]

As my fellow countrymen, i felt sad about this. I dont really mind her posts really, i learned my lesson.

Remember when we had a grudge before when i was just a newbie. It was in the Likes And Dislikes Thread by Grunch and i become the sore loser on that one. And i thought, this ones great. I became the IDIOT. [:D]

Hope you give her a chance sir. I,ll truly miss her. [;)]

No pun intended.

Peace Rubbeet!!

All I can say is WOW![:0]
I don't get all the facts but I do see what is written and I do talk to enough people offline to know that Mike is doing the right thing. The last few days were like watching a meltdown. One attack after the other, and not very well hidden ones at that. If someone is not happy here, they should leave. Not make it a horror show for everyone else. It is clear in her mind that she has a bone to pick with Motors. It happened before and now once again. Then the ball was rolling. People defend motors, they get attacked, people stay out they are friends. It was getting very childish. They have a new place to go now, great, have fun, enjoy life. You can't live every moment of every day with such hurtful and negative thoughts. I am just glad I won't be getting emails anymore.
Lets all move on people, and leave them alone as they should do to us.

With this unfortunate turn of events, I respectfully ask the great MikeP to delete my account.I could have done this quietly, of course but I think I'm entitled to one last chance to say my piece. Unfortunately ... or maybe fortunately, I cannot attempt to put in the last word here but perhaps read in gagged silence whatever remarks come after.

1. I feel strongly that Rubbeet shouldn't have been locked out of the board for her actions. True, her behavior of late has not been the typical 'beetness I came to admire. But why deal with her so harshly? The mods could have (and some actually did) edited her posts if they feel so strongly that these are unfit for this forum, right? You judge her for taking things on a personal level but the attacks on her WERE very personal. And most of you are aware that we Filipinos are quite onion-skinned so her reactions, IMO, were only to be expected. I have never met her but I always found her to be full light-hearted humor and always inspiring.

2. There hasn't been much going for me in the board these days. I would often start typing a new message or a new reply, then end up deleting the whole thing for fear of "stirring shit up" even though my intentions are far from it. I honestly developed a phobia in reading replies directed at me telling me how stupid or what a jackass I am. I know one is not supposed to take these virtual interactions too seriously but hey, that's me. Maybe I simply cannot come up with messages that meet the intellectual standards of the board which is funny, because things weren't like this before. Before, I could put in my thoughts freely. If no one gave a fuck about it, people simply ignored it.

3. Eight6, I have only 3 things left to say to you:

a. you were wrong in insisting I originally used a username at torchomatic that I had to change later on because everyone found it offensive.

I just had to point that out because:
- that's the first shit you threw at me on this board, feeling mighty sure and righteous of yourself;
- you cannot counter that information because it can't be searched on google;
- i wanted to stress that for the last time, for the information of those people who say you're super because you call a spade a spade

b. You were SO wrong in questioning my sincerity when I tried to empathize with the newbies whenever they got off to a rough start.

c. FUCK YOU!

4. Finally, I'd like to say thanks to all those good people on this board, those who put up with my stupidity or at least told me off without humiliating me, those who replied to my requests, those who took time to thank me for answering their requests and most of all for those who made me believe that I was in great company simply because we shared the same interest in 80's music.

My view of the NWO -

We all started out on the same track, building the outpost as we went along. It went through several phases. Some, having greater resources, time, music and ideas to share, were able to contribute larger chunks into what we now know as the nwo. In the course of its evolution, some could not cope with the changes and left (or got booted out). For myself, I am at that stage that I am getting left behind, perhaps because I refuse to accept the changes. So I have to say goodbye.

Merry Christmas, good folks of NWO!!!

Thanks Design Femme. I joined this forum to learn about New Wave music in other countries and i learned a lot. Im not here to bash anyone. We Filipinos are peace loving people.

Dar...please lighten up. There are only 4 active members here from our country. Rubbeet, DSR, you and me. Now Rubbeets locked up, your like submitting your irrevocable resignation. Common kabayan, reconsider your decision. Youll never know, Rubbeet might return someday.

Rubbeet, im sorry kung pinatulan ko yung atake mo sa kin. And all that sagutan brouhaha. Past is past. But, honestly, i learned a lot from you. Ingat Kabayan. [;)]

Empyrean and ExRat, I hope you both stick around for a long long time. Empyrean, you've a real enthusiasm that I love. ExRat, you're an especially level head that I never seem to disagree with. Heck, I even hope Rubbeet gets another chance after she cools down. The old Rubbeet that is. She was a pistol who would take a gibe and give an even better one back! I'm still a little confused at the new Rubbeet.

Anyway, the stuff I saw that was being posted over and over again by her late last night contained very detailed and very personal accusations about many board members. It was downright creepy to see her try to wield it as a weapon in public. The problem is that this is the internet and comments like that have the potential to be particularly slanderous because no one can possibly know what is fact or fiction. It wouldn't matter...those names would be permanently soiled by mere accusation. This is not the place.

MikeP is the most far from "fascist" person you could ever meet. I am 100% certain of that. He's amazingly diplomatic...more than I would like even, as I've chirped from the useless peanut gallery. You have to look at the board history here and see that it's taken supreme creepiness to get banned. All 3 people...count 'em...3! To clarify my standpoint to MIkeP, I'm not looking for more banning or fascism. Just more immediate call-outs on what's acceptible or not so it doesn't get this heated.

Dammit! Sorry! I keep pitching my 2 cents and keep cringing every time I do it. [xx(][xx(][xx(]

<p align="justify">Computer crashes and the whole Internets crashes right along with it. You kids lost me[xx(] I haven't read much of anything because I don't possess the attention span and reading comprehension in my present state of mind, but "slander" is pretty hard to prove over a written medium:

1. It's non-verbal, so it's really libelous[;)]

2. You have to prove that what is said here actually affected your personal life in some way as to be damaging financially, or at work, or with your real life community, etc, etc. So, unless you're Donald Trump who does have a bona fide case of slander against Rosie O'Donnell, it's gonna be pretty tough here at the ol' NWO[;)]

XXX, funny comment about internet lawyerin' from the Encyclopedia Dramatica...

"Traditionally, slander and libel were two separate torts. Slander dealt with spoken untruths and libel with written untruths. By and large, this distinction has disappeared in American law, with most jurisdictions now favouring a unified "defamation" cause of action.

However, this in no way impedes internet lawyers from pointing out the difference, as though it means they automatically win:

Mediacrat: Dude, you're a fucking furry.
RealAdrian: OMG LIBEL!
Mediacrat: HAHA you moron SLANDER IS SPOKEN AND LIBEL IS WRITTEN! You lose, retard!
RealAdrian: FURSECUTION!"

MikeP is one of the most level-headed people I've ever met. He is also very patient and very tolerant. I unfortunately missed the whole Rubbeet thing, but I trust Mike's opinions and know that he did what he felt was right. I'll stand by him on that and defend his actions although I will miss Rubbeet (I hope someone tells me what really happened!).

Rubbeet said one of the only nice things about me that I've read here in recent times:

http://nwoutpost.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16806

There are some on this board who delight in ripping me apart for whatever reason (if they could e-mail me offline and let me know what the real reasons are, I'd be glad to clear things up). Mike is a friend of mine, yet he allowed some real personal shit to be slung against me. Maybe it was because he felt that I may have deserved it? Maybe he felt I was out of line or not making my points clear enough? Whatever reason, he did not lock anyone off of this board for attacking a friend of his, which means that Rubbeet must have done something dastardly! I don't fault Mike at all for not locking the Spaz Haters off the board (I wouldn't purposely tell him to either, unless I'm extremely agitated) ...I'm just bringing this all up to show that he's been fair to other shit stirrers in the past. I think all the mods and most of the members have been fair.

Whatever went down must've been real bad.

But whatever happened, I hope it can be fixed. A few apologies, a few offline conversations and Rubbeet will bring her cute little self back here for a bit of musical fun.....

Well, I don't know what was said or done but i guess it must have been pretty bad for MikeP to lock her out.

I've said it before, I love the heated discusions and grudge matches (especially when eight6 is involved, which is most of the time) as it is very entertaining. When it becomes personal or hurtful is when it has to stop. Hopefully things will go back to normal after the New Year.
