What an awesome song that was. Nice post-punk/gothic feel to it. And
Ocean was right. It sounds exactly like the church. I dont understand
why so many songs that were minor hits back in the 80's faded into
obscurity so fast. Great songs like that should be included on 80's
flashback shows on alternative stations. Anyway thank you eight6 for
helping me discover that song. I owe you.

Wow! I've been searching forever for mp3's of this album which I have but have never ripped to vinyl (Don't know how!).
The entire Side 2 is fantastic, The Fabulous Spud Brothers song (George and Marguerita!!!), The New Presidents, NE1 and Tami and the Monthlies!!

Any chance of you posting those songs or sending to my e-mail? I would greatly appreciate it and be happy to trade for them!

That's really weird....

After all these years, I never knew that 91X did compilations back then? Of course, they were San Diego based, but my friends and I used to listen to them if our car radios could get good enough reception.

Maybe I have seen these and never bothered to pick them up originally?

Does anyone have a scan of the LP covers? A website to look at that has the scans? And do they consist of local band only?


Even though my collection and knowledge of the '80s is extensive, I am always discovering new bands from the era...or rediscovering bands I may have ignored first time around....and that is what makes this board so exciting.

I have ripped this LP and after the first of the year will start working on clean up and will post some of the other songs.

They did a 91X compilation in 1984 as well (this one's from 83) that was called Local Heroes ($115 on gemm.com) that included Mojo Nixon and The Beat Farmers.)

Keep your eyes open on eBay for Local Heroes, I see it fairly regularly, and it usually goes in the $25.00 to $30.00 range. I'll watch for it as well if you're after a copy. Let me know. In fact, I think Goutroy just sold a copy a while back for less than $25.00.

Local Heroes has a couple of excellent tracks on it as well, most notably songs by Playground Slap, Shades of May and The Neat.
