This is driving me crazy

This is driving me crazy

Postby Jonell » Sat Dec 16, 2006 5:20 am

You came through once before for me, so please help me with this one. It was around the same time the Police did Message In A Bottle or whatever that year was. I heard it on WLIR a Long Island,NY based radio station. The lyrics had the words "girls and boys" in it. I know this is real obscure and I don't have any other info. Try your best.
Thanks

There's gotta be some additional info buried in your subconscious. Male or female vocalist? Guitar or synth driven?

Maybe "Jet Boy Jet Girl" by Elton Motello
eg: "jet boy jet girl...gonna take you round the world.."

Maybe "Boy" by Book of Love
eg: "it's not my fault...I'm not a boy..It's not my fault I don't have those toys"

"Girls & boys" by Blur fits but was much later...

There was a song back then that had the lyrics "girl meets boy, boy meets girl, it's love through and through". Can that be it?

I can't remember the artist.

That's probably Haircut 100 - Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl).

I've tried all your suggestions, but nothing. If I remember correctly its tempo was slow. please, more suggestions. This is killing me.

Jonell , instead of "girls and boys" maybe it's "cars and girls" by Prefab Sprout.

Tried Prefab Sprout, not. Thanks anyway. It was definitely around the early 80's and it was a slower, quieter song. I think the subject of the song was about girls and boys dating. British accents on the vocals. God when I read my entry it sounds like I'm crazy and this doesn't exist. I think the problem is was that I only heaard it once.

Have you tried "Boys & Girls" by Human League?

It's a non-album track which was released prior "Dare", but after "Travelogue"

The Comateens had a song called "Love Will Follow You" in 84. It wasn't a single but WLIR did play their a lot stuff back then. It has lyrics "Everyday the little boys and little girls look around for something else to do" and later "Everyday the little boys and little girls turn around to smile and wave good-bye". It was definately synth driven and had mixed vocals. Long shot... but I thought I would suggest the possibility.

I think the problem is crappy clues.

My guess is "In Awe of Industry" by Kissing the Pink. It mostly just repeats the title and "love rescue me" over and over again, but an early line is something like "What about all the girls and boys?"

"Message In A Bottle" was released in 1979. October to be precise. On the album "Regatta de Blanc".
