Whos Queen Of The 80's : Cindy Lauper or Madonna

Postby empyrean » Sat Jan 06, 2007 1:51 pm

Im inspired by jumpshifts post on 80's Flashback.

So who do you think is the queen o the 80's ? Madonna or Cindy??

Sure Madonna is much more succesful but were talking about the 80's here. 80 to 85 maybe. Do not include Madonnas album after Like A Prayer. [:D]

If its any indication, Cindy is included in USA For Africa while Madonna isnt. [:D]

As much as anyone would like not to admit it, well all know the answer to this question. even the name MADONNA say's it all, " a woman of great importance. Give it up guys, I mean Cindy was a good singer and she was kinda sexy but she has nothing on the Ciccone girl.

Without a doubt it would be Madonna.

It's ironic though. I remember when she first came out - I was very familiar with all the songs on her album - they were all huge club hits at the time - even before the album was barely known. I had no idea that she was the one who sang them, and that she was white...and that she was so cute & punky looking! I remember buying the lp & saying "Oh my God! I know this song! And this one! And this one!..." That first album of hers (and Cyndi's) is a total classic - every song is a keeper.

I recall the magazines pitting the two against each other & Cyndi always being hailed as the next big thing & Madonna was a fluffy little flash-in-the-pan disco act. Who would have known???
