Some interesting facts I got -

Then: This (S&B) was a British duo of Robin Hild and Sue West. Both were sometime session singers and songwriters that met in 1983 in the studio while working with Doctor & The Medics (Sue was a back-up singer for them). "You Don't Know" was the first single from their self-titled debut album. It reached #20 on the US charts. The album was produced by keyboardist/producer Paul Fox and had Jane Wiedlin (Go-Go's) on backing vocals. Even Chris Squire, the guitarist from Yes, helped out on the track "Let Yourself Go" but chart success dodged them thereafter.

Now: Robin has continued songwriting including some work with Martin Page.

How's about sharing "You Never Understand Me"? Anybody?

SCARLET AND BLACK was first introduced here in MANILA by NU107 on their late 1987 test broadcast following XBs sequestration. But NU107 only played one song from their album. It was DZBM POWER105 who really showed the bands potential by playing the other tracks.[:D] For me the album is great and "YOU DON'T KNOW" is a staple here in MANILA for NEW WAVERS.[8D][8D][8D]

And a largely forgotten one, too, as I haven't heard it on any of the New Wave specialty programs over there. Although, yeah, I do remember both NU and BM playing "You Don't Know" quite a bit. What other tracks from Scarlett and Black did BM spin? I was gone by then.

"Someday" is a great, great track from the CD -- it should've been a single if it wasn't.

YUP Mike "SOMEDAY" was played by DZBM POWER105 and also "LET YOURSELF GO GO". [;)] I just wished they had made another album because their sound is refreshing and cool.[8D]

How great to see Scarleet and Black getting a mention. 'You Don't Know' was such a great pop song. I have the original 12", the version of which was (IMHO) far superior to the version that appeared on the album, that seemed a bit too polished to me. I've got the follow up single on 12" too, another gem. And I agree about the b-sides on both, they were fantastic too.

I found my Scarlett and Black 12" vinyl last night and wrote down the tracklistings:

B Side: Oliver (Extended Mix)

They must have signed to Virgin after these two releases and then 'You Don't Know' was re-recorded....

That second original single 'You Never Understand Me' wasn't quite up there with 'You Don't Know' but it was better than most of the album released by Virgin. And the B-side 'Oliver' was a brilliant synth pop instrumental. I captured these tracks four or five years ago so I may be able to post in the near future if anyone is interested.
