Anybody here mix on the computer? What software do you use?

Yes, I've been using Virtual DJ software... started last week. Actually, it's really good and easy to use.
I'm not satisfied with my New Order mixes... it's a really difficult task. [:(] Depeche Mode mixes turn to be a lot better. [8D]
Also been mixing Adicta songs...

I've used ACID and I like it ... it's more of a loop based tool but for some reason I find it matches my way of thinking about the mix. The beatmatching is helpful too, although it always requires tweaking.

Yeah, I've been seeing the ads for Sony's Acid. Do you think it'll ever replace Ableton's Live?

edit: Beats...I tried an early demo of Traktor...might've been ver. 1...wasn't too excited about it but I'll try this new version since you say so. I just read something about in DJ Times. Could you e-mail me a sample of what you've done in Traktor?

I have used ACID, but I downloaded Tractor and I like it better. I used Virtual DJ when I first started mixin on the computer, it was alright but I wanted to do more....ACID is more for production. Now if you really want to do some serious stuff try Fl studio Pro... but Tractor works for me and what I do.
Honestly theres nothing like 2 turntables and a mixer, sorry but I'm old school that way...

Several DJs I know recommend this for live mixing/club DJing. It combines the hands on "old school" style of DJing with a software interface. The vinyl syncs with a digital file. Once synced, you can manipulate the vinyl allowing you to scratch, cue, change tempo, blah, blah, blah.

Cool. I've been using a program called EZ-Mixer by IK Multimedia for years now. It did everything I needed it to do: beatmatching, pitch control and set up marker points. The thing is, it was never updaed to support the subsequent AAC audio format that Apple introduced. And no update was ever released to make it run in OS X. In fact, the company just stopped supporting it. But I love the program and have a dedicated iBook running OS 9 strictly for DJ duties.

But I'm tired of re-ripping CDs to mp3 just for creating mixes. And I'd love to have an OS X compliant mixing experience on my newer iBook or Powerbook. But I don't need something as diverse as a Live or an Acid as I'm not really doing musical production. So I'm looking around.
