Lack Of Sleep

Postby jumpshift » Wed Feb 07, 2007 2:51 am

Don't you hate those nights when you feel restless. You toss and turn and have trouble falling asleep. Maybe it's just my age but lately for some reason there's been something keeping me from getting the sleep I need. I usually fall asleep around 3:00-3:30(Sometimes Later) and wake up somewhere between 7:30-9:30(Sometimes later). Sometimes If i'm lucky I'll fall asleep around 2:00 or 1:00. I quit drinking coffee a couple years ago for this reason and other reasons. But I don't know. I hardly even remember my dreams anymore. Boy do I hate not being able to remember my dreams. Anyone else have problems with sleep deprivation?

I've rarely slept more than 5 hours a night for years. Don't know the reason why: and now that I'm used to it, it doesn't really bother me.

I sleep very little , usually only 5-6 hours as well, if I sleep more it's a miracle! No more than 7 hours absolute max. And If I have something to do that I need to wake early for....no sleep all night tossing and looking at the alarm clock. You'd think I'd trust it would go off after 40 years of never failing but I don't.

I mostly sleep on my back. It's much more comfortable to sleep on my side but lots of times when I do that I start having nightmares. I know a lot of people have no choice but I HATE having to wake up early.

Great timing with this topic. For the last 3 weeks I've been working on the 2pm to 10pm shift. This morning I went back on the day shift (6am to 2pm)for the rest of this week.Last night I got no sleep at all. When that alarm clock went off at 4:30am this morning it was like ,what the f**k ! What a long day today. I should sleep good tonight , I hope.

I usually enjoy a bit of black bush and then I sleep like a baby.

Maybe I should try some of that black bush . Black bush and a little whiskey or is that a little black bush whiskey. Either way sounds ok with me .[:p]

I've tried many supplements to help me sleep including melatonin, st. john's wart, 5-htp, tryptophan, valerian root, amino acids, relora and SAM-e. None of them did much for me.

The only things that help me sleep are:

1. Carbohydrates

2. Acupuncture

3. I found this chinese herb mix called "Relaxx Extract"- xiao yao wan. Really mellows me out (almost like pot) and it's only 4 buck for 200 little pills.

...and to all a good night!

PS Never tried Black Bush but I've heard once you go there you may never come back.

I've got the weirdest sleep patterns possible. I go to bed at 1:30 a.m. (earlier if I've got classes), then wake up for an hour at around 3 a.m. and finally wake up at around 9 o' clock.
And there are periods where I cannot get to sleep for some weeks.

You really can get by on much less sleep than you think. I've been working two jobs for the past 3 months. Until recently, one job (the full-time 40 hr/wk. one) was graveyard shift and I would then work part-time (30 hrs/wk) at the other job until 4 pm. Now I am doing midnight-5am 4 days a week at the old full-time job and have a new job during the day.

Sleep is usually between 7 pm and 11 pm except for football season when I would go without sleep entirely on Sundays and Mondays. On days off I try to get 6 or 7 hours but any more than that and I feel like shit.

It's been a tough few months but it has only made me stronger and once I get the courage to buy what I've been saving up for, it will all be worth it. [:0]

There's been times in the past when I've sorta fell into the twilight zone. For a couple of hours I'll be asleep but at the same time I'm kind of awake too and staring at the walls. And on occasions if I'm lucky I'll catch myself fall asleep and start seeing lights.

If this doesn't spawn a poll, nothing will.

I need at least 7 hours sleep if I'm to function properly otherwise, I won't be able to go to the gym. Earplugs help me big-time![|)]
