I loved when the state of NJ's internal revenue department used "One way or another" for commercials for it's income tax amnesty program a few years ago. "I'm gonna getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha..."

I was fortunate enough to do a show with Debbie Harry many years ago (when she was solo touring with Chris Stein) I was soundchecking when she walked into the venue (with her little dog in her arms) and I started playing "Atomic" ala Dick Dale (my band knew the song, so they evenutally jumped in) She walked up to the stage when we finished and said, "good song". I said, "thanks, it would have been 'Detroit 442', but I never can get the intro right". Debbie says, "That's alright, neither can Chris."

So, for my list, either of those two songs have to be on it along with "Presence", "Shayla", "Union City", "Picture This", "Dreaming", and "Fan Mail"

What up people? I had to scan this thread twice cause I didn't see my fav mentioned - "X Offender"!! Am I the only one that likes this song?

And no 'shout outs' for "Maria"? Ok it's not from their heyday, but still a quality song.

Great story thanks! I'm glad you mentiond "Shayla" that song used to creep me out in a good way when I was a kid. Good memories.[:)]

My favorites are "Heart of Glass" and of course "Call me".

I also like "Maria" it's a dancy tune that starts off with the synth. and vocals. Pretty cool!

I like "Maria", as well as "French Kissin' in the USA" or was that just Deborah Harry ? I LOVE an old solo song of hers, "Rush Rush" (from the [i]Scarface[/i] soundtrack)!

picture this (one of the most beautifully written mid riffs in music!)
dreaming (one of the best power drumming songs ever)
angels on the balcony (possibly the most beautiful blondie song)
atomic (one of the best proto-techno songs and blondie's best dance song)
slow motion (great new wave interpretation of motown/girl group genre)
youth napped as sniper (one of the best punk songs ever, underrated!)
touched by presence dear (just a great, sad, poetic song)

That's my take on blondie's best.

My absolute favorite band/singer/personality was Blondie/Deb. They had so much that I loved & it's hard to just pick a couple. I'll try though!

Pretty Baby - supposedly written about Brooke Sheilds - beautiful power pop
Detroit 442 - I always liked the harder Blondie songs a little more
Dreaming - Beautiful
In the Sun - I love her yell at the beginning "Surfs Up!!!"
Will Anything Happen - One of the best & more overlooked tracks
