The "You Might be a New Waver if..." game

Postby UniversalRadio » Sat Jan 15, 2005 5:30 pm

Hey do you wanna play? This is inspired by my sister getting a page-a-day Jeff Foxworthy "you might be a redneck if" calender. Do you think we can come up with 365 you might be a new waver if things? The NWO 2006 you might be a new waver if calender!!!

The rules of the game are this: Only one per post and, you must number them to keep track of how many we've done.

Does anyone wanna play? Come on and join and put your Energy Domes on and let's have fun with this!

Energy domes--that's a good place to start...

1. You might be a new waver if you refer to the DEVO "flower pot" hats as Energy Domes.

I know I should wait until someone else posts but I can't resist...

2. You ever wanted to cry or pounded your fist against a wall because you couldn't find just the right shade of magenta eyeshadow.

...if you just slept with someone, the next morning she professes that Billy Squier had "special meaning" to her, you can't help but cruelly mock that and refuse to ever see her again.

Yes, juvenile, petty, arogant...all those things. But hey, I was only 19. [B)]

You prefer vinyl to CDs

You know way too much about DOS

You still have a WLIR or WDRE sticker on your car however faded

You wore black to the beach

You always had the prefect mix for every occasion

You're well aware that the 3 Taylors in Duran Duran were not brothers, but have no idea if any of the Doobie Brothers were actually brothers.

You might be a New Waver if you think "keytars" are cool, and not the instrument of ridiclue.

You've ever named your cat "Charlotte" because of a song.
Hell ... If you can even name 2 songs with Charlotte in the title.

19. If you think of the Backstreet Boys as Wayne/Jayne County's backup band back in the 70s.

(I lost track of the numbering stuff, sue me)

u. You still think of "Bedbugs and Ballyhoo" as Echo & The Bunnymen's "crappy new stuff"

v. You lost track of The Alarm after "Strength"

w. You get kind of miffed when you hear '80s clubs refer to the music you STILL listen to as "retro"

x. You get annoyed when you hear new albums by The Cure, New Order, etc. referred to as "comeback albums"

y. You still cling to the notion that some rare piece of vinyl is still sitting in the bins at the store you used to go to that no longer even sells vinyl

z. You're still waiting for Pete Burns to "tone down his look a bit"
