The Tube Music Network

My local cable provider (Cox) recently added this music channel to their line up. Their motto is, "Only Music, All Music". Pure music television with no reality shows, no game shows and no awards.

The format is resfreshingly cool with lots of old 80s stuff. They just played "Fascinatioin Street" (live) by The Cure, "Come Dancing" by The Kinks, "Paint It Black" (live) by The Stones.

Anybody else getting this?

The channel is taking advantage of TV's transition from analog to digital format. As this transition happens, every TV broadcaster will be able to transmit more than one channel. In other words, each broadcasting station will be able to transmit new channels. And Garland's is the first of a growing crop of such new channels that could do to traditional TV what FM did to AM radio.

The Tube, reaching 7 million people as of Jan 31, 2007, will enter major U.S. markets. In 90 days, it could potentially be reaching 20 million people, says Garland.

FREE Over-The-Air Broadcast that is received from your antenna, plus one of the following:

A digital TV set with a built-in ATSC tuner (sometimes referred to as a digital or HD tuner)

An ATSC tuner hooked up to your TV

Your Cable Company - contact your local cable TV provider for its digital availability and specific channel number.
