You can't be serious...you're not serious right? You're worked up about that? Nah, you're just pulling NWO's collective leg, right?

Lame. Lame. Lame. Lame. Lame.

My question is this: did New Balance get permission from the band to do this? Or is this another typical underhanded and undignified knock-off? Honestly, when I think of Joy Division, post-punk innovators and godfathers of doomy gloomy goth, New Balance is hardly the first name brand I think of. New Balance is kind of.....dorky.

Since the design serves no discernible purpose to the shoe's functionality, it might be a bit of inspired marketing to deal with just that issue. Much ado about nothing I say.

I think it comes with a unique New Balance Remix of "Exercise One", one that was heretofore only obtainable from the Unknown Pleasures Outtakes bootleg. Joy Division completists are sure to find too compelling to resist...but certainly never to open and - horrors - actually use!

[/quote] When I use to run, they made the best fitting most comfortable running shoes I ever owned(they didn't look to bad either).

This is one of the skateboards I own...

I think it's cool!!! I I'll post a bigger picture sometime.

Now the skateboard I can see. Skateboard design and skateboard culture has always had counter-cuture woven into it's DNA. While New Balance may be on the right track to enhancing it's image among a more trendy crowd, there is definitely going to be at least SOME criticism. Co-branding usually makes sense. For example:

· AT&T Universal Master Card
· Citibank/American Airlines/Visa Card
· Healthy Choice Cereal by Kellogg’s
· Coach edition of the Lexus ES series
· Eddie Bauer edition of the Ford Explorer
· Water by Culligan GE Profile Refrigerator
· Pillsbury Brownies with Nestlé Chocolate
· Braun/Oral-B Plaque Remover

New Order sent out a MySpace bulletin on April 2 that read:

Apr 2, 2007 3:33 PM
Subject joy division fans rejoice
Body:
New Balance has released a limited Joy Division tribute sneaker.

The sneaker is done in white and grey featuring Joy Division’s first album cover graphics on the tongue and insole. don’t know if these are going to be released mass production style but heres to keeping fingers crossed.

Then, later, sent out:

Apr 2, 2007 4:02 PM
Subject as far as the shoe goes
Body: the pic and link was sent to the myspace account so we thought we d pass it along. not sure about any details or if its a hoax or not. the website it is featured on is normally a reliable source of sneaker information.

here is the website:
http://www.hypebeast.com/category/sneakers/

it should be the first sneaker at the top.

First, why would you design the bottoms and not the sneaker itself?

Second, I am with swamp on this. I ONLY wear new balance sneakers. I have tried every brand and they are the most comfortable of all. Love the brand.

Those look like shoes my Dad would wear. I wonder if you can get them with velcro?

Yes! They also come with really high pants and a white belt. (outdated members only jacket optional)

No. I'm not "worked up". I'm too busy dealing with the gang.
