Heh, I remember my blue '71 Duster with the white side stripes. It was only a cheapie 6 - not the famed 341. But you really could imagine a small kid squeezing through the spaces in the engine compartment and crawling right to the ground! Man, today's cars are just packed!

You got that right. I liked being able to see the driveway beneath the engine compartment when I had the hood up. For example, if you dropped something (a tool, a bolt), right to the concrete you'd hear it fall....no fishing around for it.

Alright, you guys are getting me nostalgic for MY '71 Duster. It was a slant 6 like Blirs. Two door, orange paint. I collapsed the passenger seat back to form a contiguous cushioned surface with the back seats, on which I slept at nite while in college. Saved a lot on rent that way. And it was the perfect way to watch drive in movies w/ my old chem lab partner/GF.
