I've also never been attracted to taking a cruise, either. I like to go to places, walk around, get lost, observe the local stuff, and cruises don't provide what I want.

Same here. If I were trapped with all those people and germs and etc., I'd probably jump overboard.

I think it was about 10 years ago, Drew Barrymore did just that! She went on a Greek cruise and got so depressed on it, started feeling really hemmed in, that she jumped overboard and swam to a nearby island. LOL I laughed my ass off when she told that story!
I'm on board with you guys!(ouch) Never wanted to go on one, never will. Oh and you forgot pirates blir. No kidding on that either. Pirates do go after these ships. But I'm just grossed out by the germ thing all the time. Don't they wash their hands?

Pirates are very fastidious about hand-washing . . . (ok, just playing with ya! [:p])

But they DO wash their hands . . .
NuWaveRx,
even though I just deprecated cruise ships, the Alaskan one is COOL. It's a fantastic chance to see whales, glaciers, and wildlife up close that you would never otherwise see. In southeastern AK, ships are the ONLY way to get around anyway, so it's unavoidable up there. Astounding scenery!
AND, if you want the REAL Alaskan experience, take the Alaska Marine Highway (a ferry system that goes throughout the whole SE of Alaska- starts in Bellingham WA). That way, you are getting to meet the locals, see things from their point of view. You can get off the ship at whichever ports you like and stay in town for as long as you like and just pick up the next ferry when you're ready to go.

When we took the trip from Bellingham to Sitka (3-4 days) we saw so many amazing things (including a wanted felon try to escape by jumping overboard AND a tow truck tip over backwards from trying to pull a car out from under 6 ft. of snow . . . but those are DIFFERENT stories [:D]).
I have no real desire to go on a cruise. I would rather pay the money to go to Spain or maybe Austria on then wing on over to Canada and party with Eight6. or something like that [;)]

At which point he'll knock you over the head with a blackjack, toss you into a steamer trunk, and dump you into the hold of a cruise ship bound for China.

Isn't that from a movie?b
