The Passion Of The Christ...........

i was just wandering on who all saw the Passion Of The Christ and if you liked it or hated it ???
as a christian,i think it was an awesome movie!!!!!
when the passion first came out,my church in fla.,at the time,rented out 3 of stadium seating theatres in the multi plex & my church also gave to the local hard core rap station in town free tickets to the movie in which the radio station actually gave out 100 tickets to their listeners which was awesome.,especially for a ministry tool etc...
our pastor told the congregation to invite 3 unsaved (non christian) friends or family members to the movie.
i remember,out of the 3 theatres,there were at least 7 people in each theatre that gave their lives/hearts to Jesus Christ from watching the movie !!!!
that's awesome,cause if only 1 person gave their life to Christ from watching the passion,then that's all that matters.
sometimes you have to leave the 99 to get the 1.
The Passion Of The Christ got me back on that path with Christ.....
it's actually one of my all-time favorite films.
i was wandering if the film had an impact on your life or someone you know?????

Unsaved...how hilarious!! The movie was just that: a movie. Fiction pure and simple. Once, a few years ago, I had a student who referred to this movie as a "snuff" film. (! [:0])

I never quite got the connection between watching this horrifying depiction of this man's suffering and how it was supposed to "save" the "unsaved". [?] Save them from what: being flogged? being excoriated?

Well, fearing the wrath of 86... I loved it! Being a believer and all made it that much better for me. [:D]

I actually thought it was a very well made movie. And the music was moving as well. I Have to give Gibson props on this one.

I have never watched it and have no desire to ever see it.

I don't know how to explain this, but I don't want those movie images in my mind. When I think about Christ and his life, I have created images in my mind that are sacred to me. I don't want Mel's images in my mind.

I'm the same with with that nativity movie that came out not long ago. I'm sure it's beautiful, but I don't want to see it. I don't want my mental pictures tainted.

KYYX, I guess the thinking is that seeing what Christ went though will make people come to believe in him. I guess I can understand that line of thought, but to me, the big draw is the kindness and the love of Christ--taking care of the sick and poor and etc. I've never been drawn to sermons and speechs about brimstone, suffering and wrath. I think those things are surefire ways to turn people off.

Anyway, my $.02.

well, thanks BMG for that[:)]. But therein lies the rub. See, what they claim and show Christ went through, isn't that a turn off (to religion)? I am not disputing you specifically BMG; I have wondered about that in general for a long time. I mean, if these events tell us what allegedly happened to Christ, how horrible it was for him, how he sacrificed himself and all that, how does that attract followers ? Wouldn't that actuallyt discourage people from believing, b/c the same thing could happen to them ?[?]

I saw it when it came out. I wouldn't recommend seeing it; thought it was too bloody & gory. But as a believer, what I did like about the movie was the ending. I won't give it away, but guess what I celebrated last Sunday?

Yeah! Very underrated. Very very trippy.

I liked Passion too. It was completely engrossing - a key thing I want in a movie. I don't want to be self-conscious that a movie is just an artifice. This was a hell of a creation - pretty damned loose with the details and over-the-top semitic characterizations, but still good.

All this conversion nonsense though - whatever. It's a movie.

Supposedly, the idea is to blackmail you with guilt over all Jesus went through just for YOU. The guilt humbles you and makes you feel like you should devote your life to him since he was so self-sacrificing just for YOUR soul.

I feel exactly the same way. Mostly I can't stand to watch people being tortured and couldn't stomach what happens in that movie.

By the way George - "wandering" means walking aimlessly.
