The English Beat - Mirror In The Bathroom

In honor of those NWO-ers attending The beat and The Plimsouls gig in Anaheim at the House of Blues, here's a different version of Mirror In The Bathroom... the Reaggae/Dub version, I think from a 12" single.

Thanks, Glok. It has a very distinctive sound from the LP version.

I thought this version/mix was from a b-side of a 12" single, but I'm thinking it's from a compilation album released around 1984 called "Music of the World(?)." Either on EMI or WB label, other songs on the album include: XTC - Living Through Another Cuba, Rico (Rodriquez) - What 'cha Talking 'Bout, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, and other artists that have/had a world influenced beat/melody, etc.

I got the album as a promo to review, without going to pull it out in the garage, it's white, folds out like a double-lp, except it's a single record... I'm going to have to go look tomorrow...

Hope some of this helps for now.

I seem to rememeber a 12 incher from the early '80s called something like "Pato & Roger Tappy Lappy A Go Go", very dub/reggae sounding. The artist was credited as just "Pato and Roger" but the not-as-good short version later came out on an English Beat album. I wish I could find that long version, it was really good.

I would have to rip the record... I can't personally do it, must get the record to a friend, so give me like a week, I'm still a little ill...[:D]

Well, enjoy! Too bad I missed the concert, I was so looking forward to it. Next time you're out this way we'll hook up and see another good show, too bad I just came out of the hospital, and still under the weather. [:(]

This makes me think of that "Twist And Crawl" cover by Death In Vegas about 10 years ago, anyone remember? It had kind of a reggae beat but flavored with a bit of techno, and best of all they actually got Ranking Roger to do the vocals. I wonder whatever happened to those guys, but that's a question for another forum[:D]
