Thanks, I appreciate it...

I did not mean disrespect but was pointing out that you've being a incongruent since you've come back. I'm mean dude, you just had this life-changing event on the one hand and you're bothering with people who you think are twerps on the other. What gives?
Point taken...I've had this stuff, that I will never reveal here, about certain members. I'll let it drop since I don't want to screw up anybody's real life...this is just a board...
My SOLE point was that coming from where you just were, all this judgment and innuendo seems below you. I was expecting you to let loose, have some of fun, and celebrate life and just being back! Am I being a beligerent prick about how I put it? Okay, fine, sorry. The rest is private...
OK, done deal...you and me have been friends for too long to let it end up in a pissing contest...I'll be specific from now on, and I'll drop the innuendo. Look forward to having lunch...can you say business Amex? [:)]

MikeP, if you, and only you, see this, please email me about killing this thread. I think we all made our points...

Thanks

Lock the thread? Not so fast, hot stuff [;)]

Maybe I should start off by saying I was wrong by locking the Rick Nelson thread. But I don't think I was. I made an even-handed call out for all involved to take it offline. But when Union chose to email me first his mind was already made up to continue the mud-slinging because it was enjoyable to him and his gang of emailers (the Usual Suspects) - no matter what I said. For a newbie to come in here and tell us how to run the place, defy my polite best in and continue with two pages of zero content and 100% tripe? I don't think so. But considering that salsynth and UnionAve both share an IP address, I can only draw the conclusion that he's just another shit-stirring troll. But hey, far be it from me to make a public drama out of it, to delete his posts before anyone else in management can take a look at it for themselves or cover up the true identity of the troll. But the thought did cross my mind when you were trolled in your "Hey, I'm Back" thread (that was a joke). And to think, I urged Eight6 and Tiger to email him first. LOL, forget it guys, you won't be dealing with a genuine person.

As far as my moderating style goes, I have to think that it meets with the approval of Mike P. He knew what my philosophies were before he recruited me for the job and this was when I was more vocal on the boards. And despite his philosophy of "no rules", he still saw fit to assign me the job despite my very best efforts to "have some rules".

Your stance is puzzling. For a person who supposedly saw the face of God twice you sure missed the lesson of humility. That being the case, maybe you should have "been a gentleman" and took it offline which is where you seem to want to go now. But who knows if that'll happen? You've already established yourself as more subversive and abrasive as you've ever been. For someone who says it's just a board, you're really making this some sort of an illogical crusade.

Blir: I don't know how easy all this stuff is to ignore. I see a membership sixty-three pages long with some fall-out among the first page of regulars. And when I Google New Wave, the New Wave Outpost is the first thing that comes up so I have to think that there's an even larger silent audience who may be intimidated by all the "jousting" as you put it. To me, this is a shame because it takes away from the vast collective knowledge we have among us.

All that said, I think I'm going to go back to my real life so everyone please excuse me if I don't respond in a timely manner.

good point marv....if you read that rick nelson/intakes thread,i never said rick nelson was new wave.
i just said that the cd included the four bonus tracks that was on the 10" "NU DISK" record from him called "four you",which was part of cbs records NEW WAVE campain to promote new wave artists in their opinion (cheap trick, propaganda, new musik),so cbs/epic records did their..."NU DISK" releases.
so those members need to take their beef up with cbs records on what new wave is and not me.
at least a few members got the info they needed about the release and now they may hunt it down & buy it.
i thought that was what the new cd/reissues section was all about.
it seems that theres certain people who just want to bash me on every post etc...(i could post something about depeche mode & they would still bash me)
no worry to me marv,,,,i'm here to have fun & turn someone on to a band/artist they would never normally hear about.

Marv, both Tiger and I knew he was a troll long before the thread got locked.

I'll take issue with this, as I've seen it many times. In a word: bullshit. This silent audience lives on this planet correct? They don't live in a protective bubble right? Then how silly is it for anyone here to feel they need to hang their head because of the so called "jousting."

If a board and it's post content is going to scare off people from the riches to be had here, then maybe the board is better off without them. It's not my decision to make, but it is my opinion to offer.

Again...bullshit. I'd probably be the first to congratulate you for finally "getting it". But based on your post history and the "meticulous" care you take to ensure the post you're making is suitable to the mandate of the board, I just don't see me congratulating you anytime in the near (or distant) future.

So what are you saying...it's their fault you have no internal ability to tell that Rick Nelson wouldn't be considered New Wave by 99% of the members here?

Pretty weak.

Hi Marv!

Nice of you to check in. I guess I' 'Subversive and Abrasive' because I don't adhere to the Marvymarv way of life. And this isn't an illogical crusade.

When a person is given moderator status, or at least when they were, it puts them in a place that's supposed to be a touch above. You show none of the qualities, IMHO of a moderator. A dictator, yes, but not a moderator...and thanks for admitting you killed the Rick Springfield thread, even though no one actually involved in it asked you to and as far as I can tell no one complained...what, you think those involved will laugh and say 'lets go have a beer'...it'll just reappear and screw up some other thread. If you had left that one alone perhaps the participants would have gotten it out of their systems...perhaps not, but perhaps...

And if you wish to post 10 of the 'subversive' things I've written here I'll be happy to do the same...hey, let's do that...you find 10 really nasty, hurtful things I've ever written here and I'll go through your Godly posts and do the same...better yet, I'll post 20 of yours, and some things I have from the Hub...ok?

Don't play high and mighty here pal...and don't ever talk to me about God because you know nothing about the topic. The God you prey to has nothing to do with respect, and mine does. Just not for hypocrites...and if you think that I'm such a person, show me places I've been that, and once again, I'll do the same for you...better yet,

Let's agree to stay away from each other for the good of the board.

If you choose not to do that then let's have at it...I'm here anytime you'd like to exchange previous posts and emails. Ya dig?

Your choice...

Have a nice day.
Tell your wife and kids how much you love them...

I gotta go to the brain doctor now, so forgive me if I don't get right back.

False statement. I don't know who UnionAve is. I only posted because tiger_mn mentioned me. Did you not read what he wrote? He started for no reason. I was not even involved in the topic. Get your facts straight before you comment.

Waukena, you make this argument that I have to be involved in a thread before I moderate it. If you say that the mandate of a mod includes objectivity, how does this make sense to you? Eight6 made a clear point which triggered the mod in me: "...show some board respect and send me an e-mail." This is a sort of "unwritten rule" that has been established over the past few years. After a string of emails with an unbeknownst to me at the time sock I drew the conclusion that he was there with little desire for resolution. He continued the rancor. The rest is history. If this meets your definition of a dictator then I'm sorry to say you might be speaking (for whatever reason) a little out of context.

I'm not sure what else you'd like to discuss so in the great words of Eight6, "...show some board respect and send me an e-mail." It seems that you keep wanting to go there anyway.

Do you see the drivel we have to contend with when every skirmish is allowed to go on unabated? Ever hear the saying, "stop feedng the trolls" so you don't feed their need for attention - at any cost? I have to think that this same reasoning that goes on just about all over the rest of the internet could work here. Should I post an IP address?
