Any Blancmange fans here?

I just came across their videos on Youtube while doing a search for their lyrics.

I think they were very under-rated. I also liked the middle eastern sound in their music.

I wouldn't call myself a fan. I have two LP's by them (Believe You Me & Happy Families) but I got both of them as throw-aways from the radio station I worked for in those days. I listened to them them then but I don't think I've actually listened to either one again.

These guys had a fair number of non-LP songs, b-sides, alternate versions, etc.

Has anyone collected all this stuff onto CD or MP3?

[i]I have their "Second Helpings" best of CD from Canada and I think it's somewhat rare as I've never run across any other edition with the same track listing (it features 4 extended versions and a total of 15 tracks instead of 12 - also replaces the album version of "Game Above My Head" with the 12" version). The remix here of "That's Love That It Is" is also different from the version featured on "Retro:Active4":[/i]

Yeah, the version of Retro:Active is the US 12" version (I think it was a Joseph 'Razormaid!' Watt remix), whereas that Second Helpings CD version is the UK 12".

A friend originally played me the US 12" taped from the radio, and then when I picked up the UK 12", I was sadly disappointed.

Yes I agree the US remix is better overall -- no, never eaten blancmange pudding, but if it's as good as the music by Blancmange, can't be all that bad hehehe.

I just scanned the posts so I apologize if I am repeating something. The LP version of Day Before You Came was completely different .. and I have never located it on cd. All the versions on ALL the cds are DIFFERENT and I have no idea why. That version to me, was the BEST version.. extended intro and outro, trumpets, .. was really good. Someone posted that version last year.. they took it straight from the record. Let me know if anyone wants it and I will try and dig it up.

The first post mentioned a new cd and touring. Where did you see this?
I would be interested in checking that out. I clicked the links you posted but none of them mention those items.. (although it is still early and I havent had a energy drink so Im a bit slow today).

I did a bit of research regarding the version of "The Day Before You Came" in question and it appears as though it is actually the 12" version. I checked out info on several European 12" singles and the track time is identical to the track time for the US LP. It is indeed a better overall presentation of the song in my opinion. I have recorded it from my vinyl LP, but now that I know it's also on a 12" single, I may just track one of those down instead as it'll undoubtably have better sonic quality....
