The philipines are kinda irrelevant now (from a foreign policy standpoint).
I think the USA was evicted from Clark and Subic several years ago??

Americans are still very much involved in our politics. We scrap the US bases but we have the Joint Military Exercises.
Last year, when an American military raped a Filipina, it causes so much outrage that the American involved was brought to trial. The people doesnt want the GI to leave the our country but our government secretly airlifted Smith to Japan i think thus escaping prosecution. Its because one provision of the Joint Military exercises was, when an American soldier commited a crime here, the Philippines has no jurisdiction.
Some people doesnt want the bases removed because it generated jobs, mostly prostitution. [:D]
