By that reasoning, Rap is about 10 years overdue.

<br>I dont anything "killed" new wave.it was a music fad just like heavy metal in the 80s. also it has to do with the time change. music just changes about every ten years anyway.

It was Nirvana and all the grunge bands feigning ambivalence in their wake. I knew a bunch of bands in the early 90's that were doing "fun punk" (ie- Too Much Joy, Dead Milkmen) or were "happy" (Judybats, Poi Dog Pondering), and suddenly nobody wanted to smile when listening to their music anymore for some reason, kind of a "grunge ice age."
