There was also the Cuddly Toys whose image was glam influenced. They used to be called "Raped" and were a punk band. When they changed their name to Cuddly Toys, they became glam and their music gravitated towards that style as well.

Men Without Hats went for a more guitar-oriented sound on their ...In The 21st Century release and then straight up guitar rock on Sideways. I believe on their recent cd a couple of years back that they went back to a electronc sound.

Went from experimenting with dark, almost terrorizing industrial noise (Leichenschrei, 1982), to dancable techno-synthpop (Machine Age Voodoo, 1985), to ambient compositions (Zamia Lehmanni - Songs Of Byzantine Flowers, 1986), while still writing poppy-industrial dance tunes (Gold and Poison, 1987), to composing and conducting several major motion picture and TV scores (almost too many to name..Dead Calm, The Crow, From Dusk Till Dawn, Dune miniseries, Æon Flux, Pitch Black, Grindhouse, Sin City..many more.

i know paul weller has been mentioned, but specifically i think the change from the jam to the style council is pretty damn jarring.

listen to anything off "sound affects" and then put on "have you ever had it blue?" or "it didn't matter."

or hell, "life at a top people's health farm" (or whatever it is).

that being said, i preferred the style council! ha!

No need for cover... I can totally see why Weller went in the direction of The Style Council, as all the clues and musical building blocks are contained in Tha Jam's last album "The Gift," and especially, their last EP: "Beat Surrender." [8D] Yes, listening to earlier Jam albums. it will seem jarring, I think when you listen to, and consider the last output of The Jam it was inevitable...
